I have not watched the video yet and I had to comment after seeing the thumbnail.. a batwing awning on a cargo trailer, ok I'm interested! 🤯🤔

Bill has a knack for the interview. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him, his lovely wife Deb, and everyone I had a chance to meet at the rendezvous. If you’ve considered building your own, first subscribe to their channel and invest the time in watching their excellent videos. You’ll be amazed at the ingenious designs some of their ‘family’ have come up with. It’ll save you much time and effort during your planning phase. After you get your build done, make the trip to one of the rendevous’. It’s a great time with wonderful people that share your interest. Bill and Deb and a handful of others really do a [hen0nmeal job bringing these events together and I can say thank you enough!

@@daleyoung5362Hey Dale, can you tell us how you constructed your bed setup? Do you have a you tube channel?
@daleyoung5362Ай бұрын
@@thetoolmat8632 No KZbin channel for me, but I can describe it. There are kitchen base cabinets at the rear of the trailer on each side. Base cabinets are 35” tall and 24” deep. Each side has one 36” wide cabinet and one 12” wide cabinet, all purchased from Lowe’s. Facing the rear of the trailer, the 36” cabinet on the left has a full width drawer on top and two doors below. The 12” cabinet has a hanger bar inside. The wide cabinet is general storage, the narrow is a closet. This is repeated on the opposite side, except the wide cabinet houses all the electrics. The bed is a sheet of 1/2” birch ply, cut to fit. I used three piano hinges, one against the wall on each side and one on the outside edge of the left side cabinet. This creates three hinged sections of the bed, allowing me to get into each cabinet from the top and to fold up the center section of the bed so that I can walk out of the back door onto the deck.

KZbin won't let us post photos in comments. You could post them on Facebook, and then possibly post the link here. I've never tried it, but it might be worth a try.
Honestly, nothing revolutionary about it. Every idea I had I got from Bill and Deb’s videos. That’s strange….had a link to a quick build video I made and posted to KZbin. I uploaded it just to show the bed build.

Like that awning, thanks for the info. Looking at one for my 7x16. Questions if I may, always good t get real-world experience from actual users. 1. You mentioned the pull-downs for rain run-off. Awning looks so flat I'm concerned with water pooling. Even if it doesn't do damage, I just don't want to have to run pooled water off every time it rains. How's it work for you? 2. Can you partially open it just to the end of the trailer or the full 180, but not the full 270? Looks to me like you could, or does it have to be fully opened for the cover to be tight? 3. Does rain come through the gap over the door? I think I see some bunched material there, is there a flap or something to cover that gap? 4. Is yours the HD or the XD? Any advice on what you'd buy if you did it again? 5. I'm building my shower same location, looks similar in size. Mine will be 24" wide, 24" along the short (exterior) wall and 36" along the long (interior) wall. What size is your shower? Has it been sufficient or doing it again any suggestions on minimum size? Trying not to use too much space for something used only once/day for a few minutes. Sorry for so many question, but it looks like you've really thought things out and have a lot of experience in use, (and we're same age), appreciate any input.
@daleyoung5362Ай бұрын
Sorry for not answering sooner. I’ve been hiking and cell coverage is spotty. 1. Water pools. A solution would be to add washers beneath the brackets furthest from the awning. This would ‘tilt’ the awning and provide enough slope so the water would run off. 2. I’m sitting under the awning while typing this, and I can see a way to make it so that you could partially deploy the awning. As designed however, there would be a lot of slack if it’s not fully deployed. 3. The rain does not come thru that gap. There is a separate piece of fabric that covers that gap and attaches to the top of the trailer. You will need to install a tie down point for it to attach to. 4. I dont remember which model I bought. I’ll see if I can look it up and update this post. This model works out perfectly for my trailer. It’s exact;y as long as the trailer short of the V portion of the trailer and the 270 portion is exactly as wide as the trailer. 5. My shower is 36x24. It is the minimum size to be comfortably usable. I have no issues with it, but if it were any smaller I would be disappointed. I am seriously considering a new build with an 8.5x16x7 V-nose. I’ve done the planning and settled on a rear bathroom, mid-trailer bed design. If I pursue it, I will install a 36x36 shower.

What type of wall and ceiling insulation, how thick? Did he install the insulation/walls, or was the interior finish when purchased? Nice floor plan.
@daleyoung53622 ай бұрын
The walls and ceiling have 1” foam board, the floor 1.5”. I stripped the trailer to the metal when I purchased it and built it myself. The wall and ceiling panels are 1/4” birch ply.

Can you please share the internet service that Dale has? And the cost per month?
@daleyoung53622 ай бұрын
I use TravlFi for the service. The cost depends on the monthly plan you choose. You may purchase anywhere from 10gb up to unlimited service per month. There is no ‘contract’. Once you own the router and antenna, you can turn the service on or off with a phone call. So far, the service has been good. When boondocking in the mountains, I’ve had brief periods of poor reception. When at established campgrounds, the reception has generally been excellent. No trouble streaming on the TV while surfing on the I{ad.

What material are you using for front of mini- split?
@daleyoung53622 ай бұрын
It’s 1/2” PVC board. It comes in 4x8 sheets like plywood. It was a perfect solution for me. The PVC is indestructible and comes color matched to my trailer. The friend that provided it owns a building supply business, so…. If not for him, I would have opted for a lower graded plywood
