Every once in a while i'll speak to a "real" beekeeper. They get annoyed when I tell them all my knowledge comes from a youtube channel. They should be impressed I picked from Dirtrooster to learn from. Some day i'll have my own hive, until then, i'll enjoy watching you work yours.
@tyndaldi75694 жыл бұрын
Truth. I've had quite a few similar situations with different fields of expertise and they ask me how do I know that. When my response is KZbin/Google, they then proceed to brush me off like I don't know anything. Odd. xD
@juanjosedelpinorivas70994 жыл бұрын
Ignorance can be painful sometimes. Maybe they consider people who learn from KZbin as non experts, despite many of us enjoying videos from beekeepers who enjoy what they do. Honestly, I just ignore all that. I know a thing or two regarding bees thanks to these videos and I've learnt how important they are for the environment.
@PhillipHall014 жыл бұрын
Human nature, you learned in a fraction of the time that it may have taken them through the school of experience and hard knocks, sometimes a lifetime to learn such things. Don't be to hard on them. Feel sorrow for them. KZbin, especially if you check out more than one channel and read the comments, is the next best thing to a mentor, sometimes better. You have found a good channel here. There are others full of good information as well.

Probably because you don't have hands on experience. You can know exactly what and how to do something in a given situation, but you don't have the motions/ muscle memory people who have been doing this for years have. Just because you know all the words in Hamlet doesn't mean you can act.

I captured my first swarm a few days ago off of a wood fence post. It was very small. Found the queen and caged her. Got most of the bees in and then the rest marched in toward the queen in the evening. The only box I have is a full size new box with plastic foundation. I fed the bees some sugar water and patty while they were locked up for a couple days. After a couple days, I opened the entrance so they could forage. I still have the queen in a clip cage inside. I'm hoping they will build out and get invested in their new home before I let the queen out. How long should I keep the queen caged? And how do I keep ants out of the hive? I already see ants walking around the outside and legs of the box.

Those muscle cramps drove me mad too. Drinking water just flushes out the electrolytes, making the charlie horses worse at night. Please take a look at snake juice. Basically mixing some Himalayan Pink salt and other stuff with water, so those electrolytes get replenished. Dont bother with gatorade or similar sports drinks. Get some real cheap snake juice, make it at home for pennies. Cole Robinson, snake juice. (Ignore the snake diet, thats way too hard core.) Hope it helps!!!
