Regular honey bees and Africanized Bees are entirely different beasts. Regular ones are pretty chill and don't go into hive-defense mode. Africanized ones are much more aggressive and you should never get near them without a suit and lots of training.

@@arandomdude8584 Nothing unusual about that. Many amateur beekeepers do not wear any more protection than necessary for their particular bee strain and existing weather/flow conditions. I often work mine, during the May/June flow, without any sort of protection. The professionals with thousands of hives do not have the luxury of slow and gentle handling or waiting for better weather conditions. They work to tight schedules so wear suits allowing them to pretty much ignore the bees and do the hive manipulations necessary to get their work done on time.

Every year, when I was young, my school would do that fundraiser where you send animal's to people in Africa. And every year I'd fight to send bees. I always lost to the people who wanted to send a cow. We'd raise enough to send maybe one cow, but the same amount could send several hives. My argument was always that sending a lot of bees did more good than sending one cow, cause you can eat and sell honey. And if you sent several hives, you're handing someone a business. Where as one cow could only feed a family for a while. I think I always lost because the bees were a lower cost and therefore seemed less prestigious. Every class wanted to be the one that raised enough to send a cow. I also think it was fueled by sentiment, a large mammal just seems more valuable, when to me sending as many bees as we could would do the most good for the most people. It still bugs me that I couldn't argue that point better. Ad that every year the perceived superiority of sending a cow won out.

Depends on where in africa you actually send said animal. Does the area have enough plantlife to sustain those hives? Same goes with a cow. Is there enough grass for the cow to eat? Oh well, i dont know, just a thought.

I'm just amazed at how Bee Keeping is. When I was a little girl, there was a older gentleman that used to go to my Grandparents house. If he knew I was there, he'd bring me a jar of honey with a comb in it. And a beautiful Apple from one of his trees. I was sad when he passed on, I was really sad. But that Man made me fascinated with Bee Keeping. Where I live we aren't allowed to keep bees. But one day ... I hope I can.

For 2,000 years the Europeans have been killing aggressive hives queens. You replace it with another queen and wait 6 weeks for all the old bees to die. Then you check it to see if the new queen is producing more docile workers. If not, you requiem again if necessary. It usually isn’t but the nasty attitude genes are still in the gene pool, though greatly suppressed…after 2,000 years (at least..).

First time keeper and a longtime viewer. Just wanted to say thanks for posting these videos they have educated me and my friends, especially those who can't believe how gentle the bees are. Though you are making me miss the deep south, lived over in Morgan city for a few years

Those are honey bees and are very valuable and are important to plant life. I'm not a tree hugger and hate insects but honey get a pass.

I worked with bees in San Diego, a huge honey producing area. Lots of lessons that you can learn keeping bees. It’s agriculture, which means it’s gambling! But we put up 600,000 lbs of honey (divide by twelve for the gallons) in 4 months. That’s a MELLOW hive! Maybe that’s why the homeowner put up with them so long. We only used smoke when we hit a hostile hive. This was just before the killer bees came in to the southwest. Beekeeping is an ancient and well respected vocation. There was honey found in 2,000 year old Egyptian tombs that was sealed in clay pots with wax. It was still edible, the enzymes that keep honey stable were still active. Maybe that’s why it’s prized for health benefits. But that’s totally raw honey. Enzymes are destroyed between 120 and 130 degrees Fahrenheit. I have many interesting stories about my beekeeping experiences!

Bees: I will hide my nest so the humans cannot see and to protect Wasp: just gonna be flexing on them bees *screw the humans I’m just gonna sting crap out of them* This is just something I had to do after watching 12 videos about wasps and bees this is just a sudden thought while I was watching this video
