So simple, so straightforward- better than any bloom video I’ve seen because it doesn’t have a million ingredients, but it works! Thank you soooo much!!!

Thank you LORI......I re-watched the video 3x and I think I understand it better now. If I'm using a white base paint for my pour my CA........I'll use WHITE ink in my CA.....NOT black like the example in the video.

Don’t need it if you use the us Floetrol with Amsterdam titanium white. 3 parts Floetrol to 1 part paint I only add ink to my black CA

I look forward to trying this recipe out (I have plenty of Amsterdam Titanium White & various colors of acrylic ink, so it should be no problem to mix up different colors- but the one issue I wanted to ask about is this: pipettes come in all different sizes, so just saying “two pipettes full” doesn’t really tell us much as far as the proportion of acrylic ink to the 1 part (1tbsp) water to 1 part opaque/dense Amsterdam paint (for anyone not aware, paints like Amsterdam’s Titanium White & Oxide Black work well as cell activators because they’re more opaque & more dense than average pouring acrylic paints; the opacity is important so that any lacing/webbing stands out & you don’t see the underlying colors through it, & the density is what makes them suitable to induce “Rayleigh-Taylor instability,” the physical reaction which causes more dense fluids/paints to punch through the surface tension of less dense ones, with the underlying colors rising to the surface to fill in the gap in the surface, creating cells). So I’d really appreciate a measure either in parts or tablespoons (assuming the other 1 tbsp measures) or whatever is convenient, of the ink. If you see how much of a tablespoon each one of your particular pipettes will fill, that would answer it. At any rate, your pours look amazing! Love the one in the thumbnail. I’ll have to check out more of your videos.

Hi. Thank you!! When I say pipette I’m referring to the dropper in the bottle that is attached to the lid of acrylic ink bottles. Sorry if this was confusing 😊

Hello Lori McKinnon, Thanks for your good demonstration and easy way for cells. I have one question, as I am from Mauritius, here they do not import a lot of crafts products. I just wanted to know is your black ink Alcohol base???
@LoriMcKinnonArt Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks 🙏 I believe it’s water based. You could research Liquitex inks for more info if needed

I'm learning so much from you Lori!! I'm gonna try a bloom sooooon. I've been so busy. In reality I prob won't find them to try until I get back from my trip in August. I have so much to do before then but I'm gonna try!! Until then please keep making videos and I will be watching them. Can I use another brand of paint? I have a ton of Mont Marte. It's really thick. I have some of that ink alreayd in a deep blue I might try just to get the consistency down. You mentione in your test that the order wasn't great. Can you talk about the importance of how you lay out your colors for blooms?
@LoriMcKinnonArt3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. I’m glad to hear I’m helping people 💕 you can use any brand just make the consistency correct. Consistency is more important than brand. Layering paints is an art form all by itself lol. It’s part science 😃 I just paint intuitively and go with the flow. Mixing brands helps as well as mixing opacities - you just have to practice and you will see improvement

Thank you so much for the video! I'm new to this. Does the type of black acrylic pain matter? does it have to be zinc oxide? Can you use a different brand black acrylic ink? Appreciate your help.

Is your housepaint just paint or mixed?
@LoriMcKinnonArt3 жыл бұрын
It depends which one I’m using and the piece I’m creating but most of the time I mix some GAC800 into it to help with cracking.

@@LoriMcKinnonArt thanks! I'm still learning,i do it only 2 weeks now. When i saw your video i immediatly went to the Action to buy a watercolour ink kit. I also have the cheap paint of the Action. It works perfect to get cells and lacing! So many thanks to you! And if you don't mix it well you even get gradients in colours ,i love it! First further experimenting and than i buy better paint with more pigment,yes!
