Thanks for the vid man. I just changed mine today and your video helped a lot. 👍

Thx for the video. Doing this today. The AC Delco 75W-90 diff fluid is $40 a qt from a dealer! Valvoline 75W-90 at Autozone is $19 a qt in the squeeze bag. Is there any reason I can't use the Valvoline?

I read some of the responses about changing the oil at 2K. For my 2014 the book says 45K miles. I changed it at 5K and the gear oil looked like glitter, I agree with you and I change all fluids also filters sooner than the manufactures say. My thinking is, manufactures want you wait because they know old oil will have debris in it wearing out parts faster. Yes peace of mind and less payout later.

Does it void your warranty to change your diff fluid on your own ?
@MLeeder537 жыл бұрын
after you do your 1st change how often are you supposed to change the fluid in the diff?
@JCunningham217 жыл бұрын
should change it at 500 than 1500. Then because its easy and cheap I go 20,000 miles.

How do you like the heavy break dust in the new ss I had a 1ss I would clean the wheels take it out for one drive and had instant break dust
@63falcondude8 жыл бұрын
DustinCorvetteZr1 the brake dust is horrible. My commute to work I about 90 miles a day so you can imagine how nasty the wheels get in a week.
@gtperfection15968 жыл бұрын
Good thing there are low dust pads you can get but if your like me I refuse to replace new pads hopefully when they break in a bit it will be less dust.
@tattude19747 жыл бұрын
DustinCorvetteZr1 I don't see much on my 1LE... I wash every Thursday or Friday and wheels pretty much stay clean.
@markanders2507 жыл бұрын
The dust is real bad, I changed mine after 6 months because the dust will pit your rims if you don't clean them off every few days. I don't have time for that so I just went for new pads.

After years of constantly cleaning my wheels on a '12 Camaro SS with Brembos, I opted to install Hawk Perf Ceramic pads (yellow box) to my new '17 SS. No noise, smooth, and minimal dust !Donnie P.

Does the car need to be level to drain the fluid? I have ramps which I can use to raise the back of the car. But the car will be at an angle then.
@63falcondude6 жыл бұрын
yishmeister ideally, yes but it doesn’t have to be. It’s okay if it is on a slight angle. Just have the back end of the car facing the street assuming that your driveway slopes toward the street.

My car is RWD and the noise is coming from the front. So it cant be CV joints. And i bought this car last year, such a bummer:(

@@TechnicalBarbarity [reply to old post] It's wheel-hub corrosion. To fix: Remove the wheel, clean the corrosion off the wheel and hub with a wire brush. Wipe clean and apply a THIN layer of lithium grease. Torque to 140 ft-lbs.

Thank you for sharing this awesome video. Please question: if the diff and transmission sharing the same fluid , so what the benefit to only change the diff fluid? I think you have to change the whole fluid in both. Am i right or what?

if tracking the car, Chevrolet recommends changing it around 1500 miles and/or after first track event....

I changed mine with 2,200 miles with one track day and fluid was horrible. Sludge of gunk and particals stuck to the magnetic drain plugs. It would be stupid not to change it this early.
@warc8us5 жыл бұрын
Metal particles in the rear diff is a known issue and weakpoint in 6th gen Camaro, as you can see when he pulled out the drain plug it was completely saturated with material. It is a good idea to change the diff oil in a 6th gen Camaro after 1500-2000 miles or so, sooner if you drive hard, and as soon as you get the car if you buy it used with anything more than a few thousand miles on it, just to be safe.
