Now that Audeze are owned by Sony they have all the R&D budget they need to revise the LCDi4 like they did the LCD-X a number of times; with a better tuning, a standard 2-pin cable that terminates in either 3.5mm or 4.4mm, forged carbon composite driver housings and last but not least, the ear-hooks... Remember those colourful pipe-cleaners you used to play with as a kid? Audeze need to make a thicker plain black version as their ear-hook. A soft, fluffy outer covering (for comfort) with an adjustable clamping force hook inside.

If you like the Timeless 7hz then they also work very well with the Fiio UTWS5 to make them wireless... and yes, they fit in the case perfectly...

$15 Yinyoo cables from aliexpress fit lcd-i4. Their midbass is stronger than the graph suggests and their treble doesn't match the graph either. But once you wrestle them they're unlike anything else. Try these filters: Preamp: -9.4 dB Filter 1: ON PK Fc 3300 Hz Gain 10.0 dB Q 1.000 Filter 2: ON PK Fc 1700 Hz Gain -5.0 dB Q 2.000 Filter 3: ON PK Fc 750 Hz Gain -3.0 dB Q 2.000 Filter 4: ON LSC Fc 70 Hz Gain 7.0 dB Q 0.700 Filter 5: ON PK Fc 150 Hz Gain -2.0 dB Q 0.500

Yeah with the proper EQ the LCD-i4s are literal endgame for me. I've boosted the bass quite a bit and am running with the Gustard R26 and cen.grand LIttle Silver Fox, I even use these with the BT cable and my experience has been stellar. It's possible the B-stocks aren't the same as the ones sold brand new by Audeze, I believe even the FR curve is different between new and B-stock models. That might explain why he had such a bad experience. These are 90% as good as the LCD-4s and even surpass it in some categories (comfort, not as dark sounding). Earhooks + comply foam give me unparalleled comfort!

I hope you'll get to try Vision ears EXT IEMS. It will change your world. Imagine combining Kinera nanna 2.0 pro with Empire ears Odin. Now take that and add extra fun, engagement, and speed to it you get EXT. I really hope you'll get to try it. If you do try to pair it up with Ifi XDSD Gryhon and use the Xbase mode.

Michael! Surprised to see that you haven’t yet dipped your musical toes into the RAAL Requisite SR1b ribbon headphones. A bit more complicated to interface with most systems, but would be very curious to hear your thoughts on these…

Hi Dennis, I haven’t gotten into Raal because I auditioned them at CanJam. I thought the were interesting, but I was afraid the effect would get old fairly fast. If someone sent them to me I’d review them, but it’s nothing I’m keen to spend my own money on.

I would love to know what you think of the after market Balanced Cable from AliExpress that you bought, I bought a custom cable from Periapt Cables that came with horrible channel imbalance and I ended up buying a knockoff chinese balanced cable just to have one that works. Months go by and im now FINALLY sending the cable back to Periapt to get fixed. That will cost $20 but its insane because the balanced cable from china was 40 and I already spent like 80 on the cable from Periapt. now if i had mentioned them right away the cable was junk the repair would probably be free. Which i expected the repair to be free because it had a lifetime warranty card but im not getting into that...

Going balanced thickened up the sound, but I still don't like the tuning even with EQ. Cable from Ali is nice. I liked the cable. Decent copper weave. Good quality for the price. Can't help this headphone, though!
