I love how your so open about branching out on other brands sam! Maisto, DCT, I still remember your RMZCity Maserati review! Keep doing this!

Thanks!! I hope more collectors buy what they like rather than just what’s hot at the moment - even though some other brands might not be as hyped-up, they still offer some really awesome products!

I remember playing with 79-cent Hot Wheels, totally neglecting and destroying them and never thinking that a mint Sweet-16 car would command $600 or more, 50 years later. Exactly what your opinion is about Zuru's Metal Machines now, was our opinion on Hot Wheels back then. I think these cars are really nice. Fantasy aside, they are nicely appointed 4-piece, quality dollar toys with the metal part in the right place: the lowest area. I've seen them being raced against Hot Wheels (what I collect) and they are competitive, if not faster. I've wondered if they are designed with AI. Like: "Computer, design me an Aston Martin combined with a Ford Mustang" and Bam!, a Zuru comes out! Kidding aside, it does look like they combine real-car design languages and cues in their castings to make them more attractive for the potential collector. I don't collect them, but I have been tempted to. Plastic aside, I consider them very high quality and very detailed. Hot Wheels Mainlines have evolved to being all plasticky too, so who are we kidding?… Here's the thing about Zuru Metal Machines: It's not like with Hot Wheels where you started collecting them last year or 10 years ago. You still got a chance to collect this line of toys from the very beginning of their existence. Something to think about. Maybe when they gain more market traction and a more vigorous and organized collector community, and put out at least ten new cars every year (there would have been over 50 designs, plus their recolors already), to give collectors that exitement and expectation of new cars every year. But as long as they keep repeating the same cars year after year, I will save my toy money for Hot Wheels only. Great video!

Yeah the thing about sweet-16 hotwheels is that there was a lot less supply of them back then. Nowadays stuff is mass produced in much greater quantities, I doubt they will ever get expensive

Zuru makes some of the best dart blasters currently being sold, they outclass Nerf in a lot of situations, price, performance etc. It's very interesting to see them doing other stuff.

Gotta say, their decal and detailing game is on point. Some of these cars made me remember the time when HW made awesome fantasy castings, specially the ones from de Acceleracers line!

I have been seriously tempted to buy more of these every time I went shopping with the relatives, so that should say plenty about how I feel on them in terms of quality and general affordability. My one and only gripe is that I think the designs are a tiny bit too generic. Zuru really needs to create some more unique designs that’ll help firmly cement them as a solid competitor to Hot Wheels.
@64Wheels8 ай бұрын
More “realistic” designs would be awesome. More like the police car and less like the Rocket League looking cars ha. Like imagine if they did some licensed castings - that would be cool too but I don’t think we’ll ever see that bc it would add extra cost to the line.
@samuelpierce2.0888 ай бұрын
@@64Wheels Meh. Personally I’m okay with the lack of licensed cars. I kinda feel like being able to make good-looking 1:64-scale versions of real-world cars isn’t really a particularly high bar to clear from a creative and/or technical standpoint anyway.
@64Wheels8 ай бұрын
@samuelpierce2.088 I get that. I really like fantasy castings so I’m good either way, but I do think they could be a legit contender to compete against Maisto if they went the licensed route. I like a lot of the AF wheels too.

these came out around 2018, and are available as singles, 3 packs, 5 packs, 10 packs, color shifters, and track sets. As for collectability, speaking as an adult collector I personally love these. They are worth collecting to me, but that will depend on who you ask. They do make great customs and racers, and some of them are good for wheel donors. That 4x4 muscle car most resembles a 69 Road Runner, I like to think of it as Zurus version of the Fast and Furious 4x4 Charger.
@64Wheels9 ай бұрын
I think I’ve seen 5 packs at some point but we don’t have the 10 packs around here sadly, just mostly the 3 packs. We do have the color changers though and all the various track sets, but I’ve never bought a track set from them bc the Mattel ones I’ve always bought are pretty good. Adventure Force has similar playsets to the Zuru ones, but they have the NASCAR license which they use to make some cool stuff.
@RebelRacer999 ай бұрын
@@64Wheels I've mostly only found the 3 and 5 packs, only one single and no 10 packs. I have seen some of the smaller track sets, but never bought them. The only track set they have that I want is the big Construction Destruction set, the rest I would mainly just be buying for the exclusive colored cars and to have additional track pieces for possible future layouts.

64Wheels, these are a nice option for children and are a better value than HW/MBX fantasy castings due to the cheaper price.

Agree - perfect for kids or younger collectors just getting started with a lower budget. The tanks and some of the other castings are genuinely cool though!

8:45 After going strong for a couple of years, I have completely stopped collecting Hotwheels/Matchbox, for about 7 months now. I don't hate them but I am focusing way more on my action figure collecting for the time. I have a sizable collection of Sky Busters and Maisto Tailwinds planes and that's what I plan on keeping and continuing to collect BUT seeing those tanks... oh man, I'm gonna have to take the dip on those beauties if see them out in the wind 👍
@64Wheels10 ай бұрын
I think a lot of people have slowed down on collecting just bc the amount of cars that are coming out and increased pricing - but the Metal Machines tanks are great! Kroger often has them for sale at a very discounted rate too.

@@64Wheels I'm in a 'small' market like Canada where we have limited retail options. In the larger cities the employees and professional resellers are taking everything before it even hits the shelves. Stepped away from die cast as it's not fun anymore.

@99Vood99 That’s a bummer. I’m in a small town but there are bigger towns around us with lots of stores and I hardly ever find a full set of new product let alone chases bc there’s so many people hunting for diecast right now😫

How about a video on your Hotwheels/Matchbox chase and super cars. In 2 years of going hard on the pegs, I was only able to find a Matchbox Super Chase with the Porshe 911from 2022. I found her at a Dollar Tree for $1.25
@64Wheels10 ай бұрын
I don’t find many chases out in the wild either - the only Matchbox chase I’ve found was the new Bronco Chase. I’ve probably only found 1-2 supers in the past couple of years too. I did however find two of the black R34 Liberty Walk chase cars which was very nice - and I do collect the premium black chase cars but I keep those carded.
