I have been buying Fresh Metal castings from Maisto for a while. I used to be able to find them in the shops here but none of the more recent models have shown up. Recently I bit the bullet and ordered a few online, from china, because i had to have the Terzio Millenio, and it did not disappoint. That Porsche Taycan looks really good too and some of the pickups you showcased I would definitely buy if i can find them. Maisto is, with Welly and RMZ City, some of the best cheap castings you can get.
@64Wheels2 жыл бұрын
The Maisto brand of 1/64 quietly left a lot of our local stores too and eventually came back as Adventure Force. I think the only places I’ve still found the actual Fresh Metal line have been discount or Dollar style stores. The Lambo is such a good casting - it’s amazing the amount of detail they packed in for less than $1. Funny that you mention RMZ City as they are one of the only 1/64 brands that sell one of my favorite real-life cars, the Maserati Gran Turismo. I just happened to stumble upon an RMZ Maserati on eBay one day and paid a dumb amount (like $15-20) to get one from overseas. Both RMZ and Maisto have very similar qualities! I kind of like the simplistic style of each though! Do you have a big collection of RMZ cars or recommend a certain one to check out?
@hellisio2 жыл бұрын
@@64Wheels yeah, the Maserati GT is quite the looker. I bought the 2 colour variations for the price of a basic Hot Wheels a few years ago. I don't have a lot of RMZ City sadly as they just disappeared from the shops here and it looks like the brand is kinda dormant at the moment, with no new castings in sight. What I really liked about RMZ was their two tier approach to models. They will have all of their castings available either as a basic model, with the same traits as Maisto (but with better wheels), or a more premium one with rubber tires, interiors, plastic inserts for lights and, I am not kidding, pullback motor, for a very similar price to a mainline HW. And those are amazing. My favourite is still the Corvette C6.R and and pretty dope Porsche 911

I've known Maisto since I was a kid, their 1/64 cars oftenly pop up in the same stores where I get my Hot Wheels from, but they also work with tons of other car (and other vehicles)-related things, they make RC cars, 1/24 and 1/18 model cars with really good detail, and many more things. Maisto is based in the USA nowadays, but even when they were originally from China (Hong Kong, I think), they were a pretty good brand back then, and now their new castings (The Blazer, the Ford truck and the M3 for example) came out super good. Only car from them that disappointed me was their Bel-Air, it's orange and black, but most of the car is a black plastic piece, so.. It wouldn't look pretty disassembled xD Overall, I like the brand, just wish I could afford to give it more attention along with Hot Wheels. Hopefully I'll be able to pick these cars up more often (as well as Matchbox), can't live of Hot Wheels and just Hot Wheels, right?

I have a huge Hot Wheels collections. I love all 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s cars (more specifically hot hatchbacks and OBS trucks). Lately Hot Wheels have been disappointing and Adventure Force has released much more exciting cars. I bought a Ford Focus ST, ‘93 Chevy 1500, E30 M3 and a couple other nice cars, while Hot Wheels is making some weird cartoon cars with skulls on wheels or donuts on wheels, for whatever reason. Hot Wheels occasionally has some cool cars but Adventure Force has been much more consistent, and if I were to rank them based on the cars they put out in the past year to now, Adventure Force is easily better. The quality of the cars however, isn’t even comparable. Hot Wheels are easily superior in that category and it’s not even close. But even with that being said, I’d take the better model Adventure Force cars over the garbage designed Hot Wheels that they always have in stores.

I’ve been surprised at home many new castings AF has put out this year - they also just came out with a Mercedes 190e Evo too that looks great. Their 454 SS is nice too, especially for .80¢ or whatever they cost now. The wheels and quality leave something to be desired but for the price they are hard to beat.
@guillermor920711 ай бұрын
@@64Wheelstotally agreed! The 454 SS is amazing. I bought all 6 of them I saw at a Walmart 😂 2 of them are for me and I’m giving 4 of them to my buddies as Christmas gifts. I think any car enthusiast appreciates toy cars as a gift. And on the wheels, that’s definitely true. I’ve only opened one of my Focus ST cars from the package, and it’s decent, but definitely not on Hot Wheels or Matchbox quality. I just love the pictures they use on the front of the package of the cars in action. Like that 454 SS is doing some kind of cornering and looks awesome, the Focus ST looks cool too, the Raptor looks like it’s in mid air, and there’s some charm to the packaging itself.

I just bought my first two. Jeeps. Castings are light but pretty nice, and I paid 97 cents each. Rolling is not great, I agree, but the biggest problem is “cache”. When you buy a hotwheels or matchbox (my preferred), you get to be part of a line extension that people collect and have loved for decades. If you’re talking about PLAYING with them, they’re great. But for a collector, I’d rather stick with the brands. Walmart could fix some of this with a more “collector oriented” data program of some kind. And maybe a better name. But the cars are really not bad at all. The wrangler unlimited is nicer than the gladiator. And it has a CRAZY small keep decal on the hood. Legible only under a magnifying glass!! I’ll buy individual cars that I really love, but won’t collect them compulsively.
@64Wheels Жыл бұрын
I just picked up a few .97¢ single carded cars today too - they definitely aren’t as collectible as the Mattel brands, but are a cheap way to get into diecast cars. Hot Wheels are still hovering around the dollar mark, so those will continue to be a better bang for your buck collector wise too. I do appreciate all the licensed castings Maisto/Adventure Force has though!

Matchbox/hotwheels base cars are basically $1.25 everywhere now. And THAT was still seeming cheap to me. 👍👍

Don't know why I feel the need to point that out, but there you go. Thanks again for this video.

Thanks man I appreciate that. A few people have corrected me on the Maisto pronunciation too, so don’t feel too bad, ha. I’ve actually been surprised at a lot of the Adventure Force product and how nice it is. Most of it is made by other brands, but Wal-Mart has done a good job at making it their own. It would be cool to see even more new castings from the AF/Maisto line too!
