65 Mph Through Burnt Land // Raw Run

Mike Mayhew, and Kieran Connolly skate at speeds up to 65 mph down this insanely beautiful, burnt, and eerie mountain road. Somewhere in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
We filmed this in the summer of 2018, a few months after an aggressive fire torched most of the area. While some green returned, you can still see the burnt trees, and destroyed land all around it. Now, the area is in a lot better condition. But, sadly for us skaters, the entire road has been repaved, leaving us unable to "comfortably" skate it. So enjoy this raw run when this road was in its prime, and as the boys go really really fast.

as a DH skateboarder I can tell you this may look crazy but there is a huge amount of work beside that. These guys train like hell and know every single turns of the roads they skate. Their trucks and board are expensive as hell and are super precised, stable (and turny at a time) and allow you to be very confidend at high speed. Brave but not crazy ^^ In my team rider there are some guys who used to be street skater like you. And they learnt DH skating very very quick like in a year they were able to reach 70-80kph. Give it a shot ;)

My adrenaline spiked while watching. I am 56 and back into skating parks before the lockdown but the other day I bombed a hill at the end of our street. I had planned it and brought my skate wrench but forgot to tighten my trucks. I got going pretty fast and uh oh some wobbles. Scared the shit out of me. I’ve left a lot of dna on hills I’ve stacked on in the past but this time I remembered a downhill video I watched on KZbin and the guy said 70% of weight on the front foot and lean forward. I held my front foot as steady tight as I could and didn’t stack! Bombing hills is a RUSH! Thanks for the awesome video!

that's why the guy screams ," OWww!" at very end; that front leg feels like pins&needles after maintaining tuck for this long a run.

I remember skating home from school with a friend and a couple times when we were close together our foot would clip part of the others wheel, then they'd go flying. I know in the vid they're not pushing but man does it stress me out seeing how close they get xD
