The key is to make this cost-efficient which is something that can't be copied. NIO's cars can replace the battery, and the battery is automatically replaced within 5 minutes without getting out of the car. What's even cooler is that NIO supports the replacement of batteries of different capacities, which means that you can upgrade your battery at any time after buying a car, and support flexible upgrades by day, month, and year. The flexible upgrade means that you choose to buy the model with the smallest battery life, because even the smallest battery life is enough for your daily commute to get off work. Then you can temporarily upgrade your battery capacity for holiday travel (billed by the day), and after the holiday is over, you don't need to continue paying rent when you switch back to a small battery. Come to think of it, the battery supports physical replacement, meaning: 1. Faster charging speed, get a fully charged battery in 5 minutes 2. Flexible battery capacity strategy, you can temporarily upgrade the battery before going on a high-speed trip. It also only takes 5 minutes, no appointment required 3. There is no need to worry about the attenuation of the battery. The battery replacement network ensures the health of the battery. 4. Older vehicles can still enjoy battery packs with the latest technology. The vehicles released by NIO in 2018 can still be replaced with the latest and largest capacity batteries! Think about Tesla in the same period in 2018, it can replace the 150kwh battery in 2023, and the battery life is close to 1000km, how crazy!

Loved your video! I'd like to respectfully add something on charging speed: NIO's top charging is at 140kw but the power curve is much flatter from 10 to 70% compared to European rivals. In essence, BMW iX can take up to 200kw at 10% charge but it will drop to 100kw at 50% and then drop further. NIO will keep the charing curve quite flat to about 70%. The time difference is not more than 5min compared to iX between 10% to 80%, maybe less. Taking lower power initially protects the battery and 5min are not a big deal. Charing from 10 to 100% takes NIO ET7 30min (same for BMW iX M50). So this whole topic is not a disadvantage to ET7.

Well, it seems like a decent car that would make a great daily driver assuming it isn't overpriced like all EV's are at this point in time. It just isn't built for the autobahn and the power figure seems inflated. The 100-200 is horrible. I hope you'll be able to remove the speed limiter with an update that would vastly improve the overall performance. I like the idea of the battery swaps too.

Thanks for showing us the trunk space of this car ;-) and informing us that the rear seats CANNOT be folded down and that unlike some other EV's, there's no frunk.

Looking at ET 7, I think Tesla is immediately out of the competition.

Tesla car's interior design look so very cheap and simple but so expensive that's the way they get money to fund the SpaceX project
@deeagnol11 ай бұрын
I think the reviewer is talking absolute fluff about the design being "generic". That car looks absolutely beautiful. If it had a Mercedes or Porsche badge, people would jizz. NIO shits on the competition all day, from the looks, to battery swaps (even for a larger capacity one for longer trips), functionality etc even the little robot thing is genius, you don't ever have to fiddle with any buttons and can just focus on driving and not take your hands off the wheel.

If you can replace the battery, are you able to charge that same one multiple times aswell or is the only way your able to get full charge is by replacing the whole battery

Yeah you can replace the battery for a full charge and you can just charge it to 100% at home or at a normal charger. I will say that a lot of people who got a brand new NIO held off on replacing their brand new battery and just charged at home. New your battery health is at 100% but if you go to a battery swap station you maybe exchanging for a battery that’s been in circulation for much longer and has a lower health %. I know NIO states that they remove batteries out of circulation if it’s below like 80 or 70% health?

They intentionally put the lidar on the outside so everyone could see it. Like most cars it's to let your neighbors know how well you are doing.
