you have no idea how lucky you are in the UK to have such amazing storage yards, mind blowing.

Just fantastic, love your splicing videos you do. I am learning! I can tie diamond knots as long as I have you at the other end of the 'tube! Sailed the 200 with a soft shackle attaching the gyb haylard that I made last night. New to the 200, so will do this! Oh, I did wonder if you used some shockcord to a central fastener like the centreboard, if that would help you get it centralised? Right I'm off to buy those fancy fittings and SK99 Dyneema, many thanks!

The “needle to secure the position of two ropes” is fine but if you use those snap shut clips used to close small plastic food bags, they don’t drop off (how many needles have I lost?) and they leave small temporary marks on the rope - this means that if you estimate you need another 2cm, you can see the readjustment you are making. Nice video and thank you.

Hey Tom. Thanks for sharing. I did this on my old boat and it was great. Allowed me to play with the strops alot more and not worry that they would be uneven on each tack as per the original ones. The result being, I barely touched them! I've just picked up my new boat and plan to do this again. The only slight annoyance I found was that because one line remains tight across the boat, when it rains, the water dosent drain off the cover as well. Just wondered if you had a solution? I thought maybe using dog bones to secure through the hull, so you could easily remove one when not sailing? 👍

I have found the same thing, but do up.the straps as tight as possible and learn the boat. It still pools a little though

Good stuff. I sail a Weta but also use the Marlow 2.5 mm D-12. What fid are you using? Where did you get it? It seems to work great.
@MozzySails4 жыл бұрын
It's a 4mm Selma hollow fid. Usually it's to big for 2.5mm Dyneema, but this Marlow rope opens up nicely for such a narrow diameter.

Wouldn't it be groovy if this was linked to the kicker system so as the kicker is pulled on the strop height automatically adjusts down with it.

Great system, I've ordered the bits. Just a point, you said two loops 1" long when they clearly showed 2" long?? Thanks
@MozzySails4 жыл бұрын
Yeah sorry, they were about 1 inch long before I pulled the knot tight! Then ended up more like two. The exact length doesn't matter anywhere over 1 inch is long enough to get through the deck. Going longer isn't an issue (within reason) but perhaps doesn't look as neat.

@@MozzySails Thanks, I could see the need for 2 inches but thought I'd better ask.👍

Does anyone know if this is Feva class legal? Couldn’t find anything in the rules to say it isn’t, but they didn’t say it was…

why do you adjust the block height while sailing?
@MozzySails4 жыл бұрын
It changes the amount of tension you can pull down the leech of the sail, whilst also keeping the boom on the centre line. In windy conditions when you have more kicker on the bridle needs to be lower to keep the boom centred. In lighter wind you will have less kicker, and so a higher boom, but you will still want it centred, so you lengthen the bridle.

whats the tool called for threading the line??
@MozzySails3 жыл бұрын
It's called a 'push fid' and is a type of splicing needle. The on here is a 4mm, but you can buy them for different diameters for different thickness ropes

Oh, and what the hell is a ‘bimble?’ Urban Dictionary says something about ‘to amble without real aim.’ I swear, the British, Aussies and New Zealanders have the coolest slang.

I only really hear it in sailing circles. I guess a synonym would be fettle. Tweak perhaps? Or a 'hack' is a US term I hear a lot. I guess it's basically semi-trivial modifications.
