Combining Lavos and Chrono’s leitmotifs makes it really sound like a climactic confrontation between the two, there are even points where you hear Chrono’s theme, only for it to be drowned out by Lavos. Great storytelling from just the music by Mitsuda.

@@klop4228 They certainly did. It's a Woolsey translation: the localization is FULL of extra that didn't exist in the Japanese. The three gurus being the three wisemen for instance, or Magus's henchmen being named after certain high profile rock musicians. So there's probably quite a bit of thought to this. FFVI's legendaries like Kefka's immortal "Son of a submariner" have the same origin.

I've listened to possibly every cover of this song. That brass section at 0:34 has never been replicated to justice. Crazy how the real instrument itself cannot satisfy my ears more than this 16 bit rendition.

that's so true! I've been thinking the same thing. I'm not sure what it is about the 16 bit original trumpets that just do it for me in the way much more high quality remixes with a higher quality trumpet sample just can't.

Bringing Magus into Black Omen and then on to Lavos makes this theme so epic, it’s mandatory. Not necessarily from a gameplay standpoint but from a story (unique dialogue) perspective. And then bringing Glenn/Frog in for the techs is the logical choice for the last slot.

And the fact those 3 are the ones with the 3×/4× dmg solo skills. I forget frogs, but hes a duo/trio kinda guy. Ayla has the drill kick, i think? And crono has confuse, it does like 360% dmg

​@@GhostblockYou know this left me thinking, kinda late but here goes some theories sjshsjs There are some instances in the game when it implies that perhaphs the world itself is making the portals trying to fight lavos and this part 1:22 is directly from another soundtrack "memories of green" which is a world map theme on the parts where there used to be a forest, so i think this is more of a the world striking back though the gang, sort of asembling its best heroes to stop lavos :)

The themes in this symphony is the apotheosis of this epic story closing the chapter with a bang, 1st Theme: the Epic final resistance of humanity against Lavos the world devourer :The final battle is coming 2nd Theme : 2 notes that make that invoke the name of the monster LA-VOS 3rd Theme: The Heroic theme of the adventure : the end of the premonition: the last stand of humanity against it's doom. THIS IS THE WORLD REVOLUTION !! Next part is both themes clashing against one another 4th theme : The heroic theme again with a higher pitch, a desperate fight bringing the best of each hero the theme goes on mixing each of this pieces, a true representation of the final battle

@@avierizzz apesar do uematsu ter feito algumas músicas em Chrono Trigger, como a música de boss normal, a daquele castelo do período pré-histórico, a do minigame de moto, entre outras, as músicas das batalhas finais é do Yasunori Mitsuda, compositor principal do jogo. Uematsu teve que cobrir parte do trabalho do Mitsuda pois o mesmo no período de desenvolvimento de CT ficou doente por um período. Essas informações estão no CD oficial da trilha sonora.
