@Prasad, I have been to Gilbert Hill 12 years ago. At that time the steps to go up were just rough cuts on the rock and ropes at corners to hold on. The temple at the top was just a small brick box with a photo, Tulsi plants and trees with thoran. The ambience was pure bliss. Cool breeze and silence even though it was in the middle of the city. Even at that time it was mostly slums around and max 4 floor buildings close by. At that time I could see some dredging work and felt bad that BMC was ignoring this geographically historic structure... Then with in a few months there was a protest and all construction work around this structure was stopped. Looking at it now its clear that the real estate mafia is unstoppable and they would encroach even the structure. Nature is completely ignored to make way for the influx of population in this city.
