Great video. Those vent window seals are always finicky to change on any car/truck. You really do need three hands. I get my son to hold the frame where I need it to be. Really helps!

Good one. The value of these vids is often to show what you might Not want to do, as well as what you might want to do, depending on your project's goals, driver or concours, just to run the Gamet of stuff we do to these old cars. Also, if I ever want to do something mechanical or any other thing really, like paint, interiors, electrical, etc. on my 64 Comet Caliente, or my 64 Ford Fairlane, or my 64 Ford Ranchero I look for Mustang, on that subject, YT vids first, of those early years 65-66. So much is the same on those Ford cars like these vent windows, so it is good you Mustang guys post so much good useful stuff, it helps me a lot, thanks a bunch. LOL. I can't tell you how many Mustang parts I have on my 64 Ranchero, for example, including the whole drive train with a 200 six, originally from a 66 Mustang!! A friend was putting a 302 into his 66 and gave me the 200 block!! LOL P.S. I even had a Mustang once, a 1970 coupe, 351 Cleveland, w/4 spd., but sold it years ago!! Nice car it was, but really scary fast! LOL

Hi Ron, I’m glad you find some of the content useful. I try to include details that other videos don’t to help make them more useful. I guess that makes all the extra time shooting and editing worth it. Helping out other car folks is a part of the enjoyment for me. Thanks

@@donsmanufactory Yes, thanks to you again, Don; and we really appreciate the YT posted work of our follow old car "nuts"!! It's certainly an "incurable disease" but, thankfully, mostly "benign"!! LOL ;D

I am considering replacing the weather strip on my 66. I was looking it over and have thought of urethaning in the short part of the seal that uses the small rivets...think that would work ok?
@donsmanufactory2 жыл бұрын
Probably would, quick set urethane holds at 1200 lbs/sq in, less in this case because of the chrome. Make sure you get the ends placed properly inside the other strip. No urethane at the ends. Clean up the squeeze out with masking tape. Good luck. Oh yeah, make sure the holes are plugged. And be sure and clean the mold release agent off the rubber part. Urethane does refuse to bond to some substances so check that it bonds well to the rubber. Since rubber is more flexible it may just shear off. Hard to say cuz the rubber layer is pretty thin on the under side.

@@donsmanufactory I tried it and it worked great....that was the only part of the origianal weather strip that was brittle. I put the urethane on the metal and closed the wing vent....easy peasy. I also think that would be a great way to bond the new division bar to the frame....its not going to let go.....ever.
