Wow...! Maha Sohona means one of those mythological demons in my country (Sri Lanka), It is amazing you guys use the same name. :) this is the first time I've seen a Sri Lankan kind of word on an international band. Thumbs up! love your music. this is how we write it in our local letters. "මහා සොහොනා"

This is the perfect comment. So many generic and bad bands on this page. Maha Sonoha shows how if you focus on quality and take your time writing the songs the music outcome is much better. No ridiculous special effects or overdone distortion. Just solid vocals and groove. It's not rocket science.
@9ner3 жыл бұрын
@@JesusChrist2000BC and in all honesty its not a superb record but still a very nice one. I don't think a lot of these bands put enough time into their craft in trying to stand out. Why even put something out there if it sounds exactly like a hundred other albums? It's senseless.

I half expected this to be an instrumental group after listening to the first minute of the album, but once they came in with the vocals I was immediately hooked.
For me, this has a strong 90's vibe. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, Tool... maybe a few others. Hope you take that as a compliment, because the 90's was the last time I truly enjoyed Rock!

This specific type of music isn’t much to my taste, but modern rock bands in general are the only thing that keeps me going through all of the shit. Music is like an actual physical engine that I can feel powering my body-I wouldn’t be able to move without it, would just curl up and die. My top six favorite bands are Thundermother, Jess and the Ancient Ones, The Oath, The Bridge City Sinners, Blood Ceremony, and Twin Temple. I need cleaner, more energetic stuff. Most “doom” is too hard on my unfortunately very sensitive ears :/ Edit: Just wanted to add that when I say “very sensitive”, I mean _extremely_ sensitive... I’ve been housebound for years because I can’t be around certain noises (like, for example, car engines, and probably most music that would be referred to as “heavy”) because they damage my ears. It sucks ass. I have to be extremely careful. It’s really fucked up that the thing that keeps me alive is one of the main threats to me :/ Edit 2: Just wanted to add that another way that music keeps me alive is by blocking out dangerous noises from the neighbors (like, for example, guns, fireworks, farming machinery, lawnmowers, and vehicles). So it’s important to me in that way, too. I can’t wear noise-canceling headphones because of the pressure they put on my ears, so I have to rely on having just the right kind of music to listen to with lighter headphones that will block out harmful noises without doing harm to me itself.

Album covers are reflective of the artistic vision of the band members. Therefore, taking the album cover into consideration when judging an album is a perfectly legitimate form of assessment. Album covers (especially for underground/independent artists) are different from book covers because the cover design for a book is often chosen by the publisher, and is not necessarily reflective of the artistic vision of the author.

Feel almost the same exact way. I'm 33 feeling like I discovered the white stripes for the first time in my sister's car, except that time I went in search of heavy music and didn't find *that* much. I know a lot of metal heads look down on doom, and there's plenty of so-so stuff, but there's nothing like a big heavy riff, and there are a lot of interesting bands trying to do just that. And I'm finding that I'm more open to other music because this heavy music itch has finally been scratched.
