66th Obie Awards: Shaina Taub Acceptance Speech

“All the world’s a stage.” When Shakespeare wrote it, could he ever have imagined it becoming a song in Central Park? Each night, long-lost siblings, exiled monarchs, clueless lovers, and a cast of more than 125 New Yorkers (and puppets) crooning R&B ballads and belting out gospel-style tunes transported us to the Forest of Arden under the stars. For their giddy, rambunctious Public Theater/Public Works adaptation of AS YOU LIKE IT, the judges have awarded a Special Obie Citation to director LAURIE WOOLERY and composer SHAINA TAUB.
