67' Mustang finally gets Wilwoods and drop spindles

Good to hear from you again. The SSBC kit that I used had issues with wheel clearance and studs. Solved with spacers and ARP bolts as well as reaming the rotors for the bigger shoulder on the bolts. Sure they bolt right on, sure. They work great now though!

Nice video!! I’m in the process of installing this exact spindle but I’m doing it as I’m installing 315-30-18 on the front of my 65. I performed the Shelby drop when I built the car The first time wonder what would happen if I just left it and added the Maier spindle?

AmbiVe planning on going with mike Maier’s up front suspension can’t go wrong with his stuff, no there’s a difference between the two Maier racing and mikemaierinc. What’s your feed back on the drop spindles with the Wilwood brakes?

What brand of spindle did you youse?

They are Maier Racing drop spindles with the Wildwood kit specifically recommended to their size.

I’m surprised you went with the dropped spindles and not a Shelby drop. We’re you really concerned with the thinner spindles? At the price of the Wilwood stuff you’d think they were more on the ball with directions. I watched one of your driving videos, it sure looked familiar. Are you somewhere in the Schols/Newberg vicinity?

The Wilwood instructions were good if you used stock spindles, it is all slightly off once you mix in the Maier Racing spindles. There are some benefits to spindles over Shelby drop, and the larger bearings were a nice bonus. Keeping good suspension geometry and not making more mounting holes were also good. Most of the roads I have done videos driving are South of Salem or towards Silver Falls.

AmbiVe Interestingly my car came out of Aumsville. I thought the stock geometry was exactly what the Shelby drop was trying to get away from? Does the Maier stuff adjust the geometry to improve it like a Shelby drop would?
