So. I think the reason the British lower glacis is so weak is due to the Cold War being in effect when the Conqueror was designed....they expected a dug in, defensive line type warfare with a lot of pre dug positions to go hull down in, hence the lower priority for lower glacis armor. Could be wrong, but that's my thinking.

Also engagement distances were expected to be much further on average than in WT. If most shots are being received from 1km+ the lower glacis is effectively more angled and a smaller target. Not sure how much this factored into the design but notable imo

They were all designed with the intent of assist in fighting Russian tanks with air and infantry support in the uneven terrain of Eastern Europe where being able to hull down and HESH the shit outa T72s a few miles out, not rushing a random ass cap point in the middle of an open field.

yes pretty much, that's why tanks like the M1 Abrams, Leopard 2 also have not so great hull armor (also because statistically speaking, the turret is most hit part of the tank)

Just as a heads up to anyone who may have been wondering. The trees not falling over was a bug that was patched recently. Also the bulldog can still fire without the gunner as it has the same hunter-killer abilities as most MBTs.

I got the centurion mk10 and gave up. Iv grinded almost every nation to around rank 5 or 6 and i have never had a more painful experience than with the centurions. Slow. no armor. No post pen damage. Youre so slow youll almost never het in a position to actualy make the stabalizers useful. Just useless tanks. Now with the APDS nerfs i refuse to touch them.

from what i understood from tank historian vids , the strategy was the conqueror was attached to 5 centurions. not having a stabilizer (or only worked at low speeds, cant remember) it would hang back at the rear of the formation and give fire support with its far larger 120mm gun

You are right Phly, they designed the late MBTS with hulldown fighting in mind, that's why only the turret and upper plate of the chieftain are not bad, the sides and rear of the Mk 6 are 37mm, to give you an idea Soviet WW2 anti tank rifles could pen them.

I love my British tanks including the Conqueror, first tree I ground out about 10 yrs ago. But with Gaijin's recent nerfing of sabot rounds playing Brits is totally frustrating and IMO pointless. The post pen damage now is abysmal, you get a good hit in and if you're lucky take out a single crew member and then they get you

I main this tank, and maybe its just me, but I can't really think of a time when I got killed from my lower glacis, or if it happens frequently. Most deaths are from the turret face weakspot, top of the roof with HE, or just straight through the upper front plate.

Maybe they took out landscaping because it was bogging down the graphics? Personally, I found removing trees and buildings that the enemy was using for cover to be both fun and helpful to teammates.

Bushes and grass are bugged somehow, they broke them so that they won't fall down and just shake when you run them over. So they "solved" it by just removing them. lol... But small trees still exhibit the same problem, but I guess they can't remove them from the maps without deleting all the trees. lol lol

The Conqueror is one of very few heavy tanks I enjoy playing. I don't normally like the playstyle and heavy tanks at 7.7 really seem to be fodder for the most part but the Conq is lit.
