Today, we put some more laps in on the newly installed 670cc predator motor purchased from you're local Harbor Freight store. Out of the box the som gun had some issues. In this video we discuss what those issues are and how we fixed them. We are a little up in the air on the swap in terms of "is it worth it". The 420cc motor just fits and runs in carts so well. Now take that motor over to "Redbeards" and let him rebuild it for you (with the billet rod/ converter etc) and you'll really be flying! 👍

Cars and Cameras channel has videos on this engine you used for the golf cart. They modded their engine for top speed. It might help you or give some new ideas with any issues you might have. I believe in 1 video they changed the engine pully to snowmobile pully for better performance as well. Interesting video, Thx) for sharing.

I'm in the process of putting in a 670 in my ezgo "dump" cart. What size belt did you use? In my other life I build drag cars and some local fabrication. So far this has been a real P.I.A., but we use the cart for everything around the shop, and that P.O.S. Robbin just pissed me off, it's so complicated for a putt putt. I've got an EZGO I picked up not running (feels like the engine is seized) that I was planning on doing a 670 swap on but then noticed how much cheaper the 420 is. Now that I've watched this I'm really on the fence. Granted if I'm doing the swap there will likely be some performance 670 parts and a gearing change so that has to be factored in. With the 670 it seems you can make it better but with the 420 there aren't really performance parts available. Also a note on the Mikuni, the round slide is probably a better choice for this application, the flat slides are really a "racing" carb that are hard to tune down low. Round slide sacrifices some top end but are more of a street carb, and like you said, the gears are really the limiting factor on top speed, so what are you really sacrificing with a round slide. (This is just my experience with Mikuni carbs in motorcycles.)

Really depends on what your overall goal is. The 420 is the better all around replacement if you are just cruising. You will not get the same power out of it of course. The 670 is fun and has a lot of torque. The carb swap we just used what performance 670 has available. I assume with them doing everything for this engine they have done the testing to see what performs best on the engine.

The 420 allows you to keel the gas pedal starter and our old G2 Yamaha with the 420 will run 30mph

Great one having 22 horsepower in a homemade golf cart like car. Even greater on my cruiser bike or custom homemade single gear, key ignition motorcycle is a must option.

Interesting summary. I was looking at this 670 conversion for a Carryall 272, but was worried about the ass pain of such a conversion. After listening to you two, I am not going to do it. I was afraid of all the mod this, tweak that, fuck with this, add to that, law of diminishing returns issues you get with a lot of engine swaps. My bad place is that the Kawasaki FE400D engine in this cart is such a unicorn. There seems to be no performance parts for it at all.

What year is your carryall? We just completed a 459 swap and are working on the video. The 459 did pretty much everything it needed to do. It has the torque for a working cart. Top speed was the same as the 670 with a stock geared rear end.

You have to tune the clutching. Without changing that you could LS swap it and it wouldn't be faster.

Same problems carburetor oh my gosh, this carburetor I got the Honda gx670 pretty much the same thing as the predator except it's made in Japan. So better made better product. But I'm still having the same issues with the carburetor constantly. Either it's too lean or too rich. It's not I don't have. I have it in a golf cart. It's not a generator so same problem

Motor puts out a small charge to keep the battery charge. If you are running accessories alternator is the best route.

So it's technically in reverse to go forward? I'm dropping a kohler ch18s with the front pto shaft 4 bolt flange into a 2004 Clubcar DS. Pto shaft will make it spin the clutch the right direction because the kawasaki engines spin CW.

How do you get it to go slow for giving the kids a ride around the block?

Its hard with the 670cc. Doesn't like to run at low throttle. Also tuning was really hard on this engine. I would suggest a 459 or 420 if you have not done the swap already. If you have the easiest way i can think of is a throttle stop by the pedal.

We did order one it did help on the initial hit. That's when it pulled the wheelie still has some issues on take offs sometimes you have to pedal it.
