Back in 1971, my future mother-in-law had a 1968 Impala station wagon with a 327. My future wife (girlfriend at the time) was showing off and laid some rubber in the high school parking lot. The defective motor mount broke and allowed the engine to lift up and jam the throttle linkage wide open. Before she could turn off the ignition switch, she ended up hitting a cement curb, buckling the right front wheel. Nobody was hurt. It turns out there was a massive GM recall on motor mounts for many 1968 GM cars with V-8 engines. The Chevy dealer replaced the damaged wheel and suspension (at no charge) along with installing the improved motor mounts.

Good story. Glad to hear Chevy made good on the repairs. My dad had a '68 Impala and I remember the recall. He did the recall. I currently have a '68 convertible and have checked to see that the recall was performed and it has been.

Amazing what you can find on KZbin. Too bad that type of vocal presentation is a lost art today, every word pronounced and spoken clear as day.

But his tone sure ain't gonna set the sales staff on fire!! Prospects will need cajoling.

First year for side marker lights or reflectors. GM opted for lights on all models.

All of those wonderful safety features featured on this 1968 Chevrolet were featured on EVERY 1968 General Motors car. Amazing what government mandated safety requirements will lead to.

So is it basically 4 different names for the same car in 4 different configs?? Instead of L, LS,LSS, and LSS-X like cars today?
@gcfifthgear3 жыл бұрын
They just replaced the names with an alphabet soup of letters (although the SS had snuck in beginning in 1961!)
