Oh how I love to see an unmolested nor "modified" vintage classic vehicle! There hace been times that I truly wondered how many of these absolutely gorgeous vehicles, 100% bone stock as if it came straight off the assembly line, like my baby. And to still be owned and driven by the same person who purchased it, is a wonderful story indeed. I too would love to see the actual cleaning process as well as rebuild of this transmission. Happy belated birthday Mr. Richard, I pray your day was surrounded by family and loved ones. Much love n prayers from my family to yours... along with some ear scratches and belly rubs to the lovely Miss Annie.🙏💜

Classic cars have so much more character than anything you buy today. You don’t see many 50+ year old cars with the original owner. This owner was one of the few who could see that muscle cars would come back big time in the future and he held onto it and kept it pristine.

I found this to be the easiest transmission to rebuild. Also they really hold up. I had one with the 440 engine and the second gear band wore out to metal till it was cutting the cluth drum. But man when that second gear came it the tires would cherp.

My high school best friend had a 383 Road Runner with a 4-speed. In my young life back then it was the fastest car that I personally had ever ridden in. This was back in the mid-80s and we thought that we had the world by the tail.

I hope you'll either post a build video of this one, or at least post some pictures of the finished product before it goes back into the car. Really nice and educational video Richard, thanks for posting.

rich thats a 1968 not a 70. i see a torker single plane intake on that 383. hope the cam was changed and gear changed to match the rpm range. the early torker single plane intakes had narrow runners.that torker likes to run at 2500-6000. the good old iron dual plane is good for basically idle to 4500 rpm. ill bet the kickdown is a little off and uphill. awesome ride. ive got a 1969 dodge coronet 440. it had a original 318 but took it out and just happen to install a 440 from a 1969 chrysler 300. all rebuilt iron intake,906 iron heads stock cam edelbrock avs 2,650 cfm, and stock convertor transgo shift kit 3.23 gears and it goes like hell when you put it to the floor. about 300hp. i am a mopar nut. 727,904 and those wacky 518s, 46re etc. love them mods you do to these transmissions. and as we know diesels love to destroy torqflites. always awesome content form you. i dont see guys like you taking the units apart and explaining to us all. but knowledge is power!

Meep Meep....those 383 4V we no slouch. Crazy colors, green interior and gold. No A/C, No power brakes. Pure power to the wheels. Not sure how it works if that torque converter is replaced, won't that change the "internal balance"? Richard is the man to build your transmission the correct way.
