Alconchel
A meio caminho entre Olivença e Jerez de los Caballeros. zona dominada pelas serras de Puercas e Cobana.
Em 2021 tinha 1 654 habitantes. Grande parte do território é usado para a criação de gado, com destaque para os porcos criados nas zonas de azinheiras e sobreiros.
Na vila encontra-se o castelo medieval de Miraflores.

Os trabalhos arqueológicos realizados nas margens do rio Guadiana, em consequência da construção da barragem portuguesa de Alqueva, levaram à descoberta de uma série de importantes sítios arqueológicos que desvendam a origem pré-histórica de Alconchel.
Este local adquiriu grande importância para os seus habitantes não só pela sua localização estratégica, no alto, que garantia a sua defesa, mas também pela sua riqueza mineral.
No período medieval o local foi inicialmente colonizado por Afonso I de Portugal, passando em meados do século XIII para o poder de Castela sob a Ordem do Templo, para regressar novamente a Portugal em 1445, e mais tarde novamente a Castela.
O Castelo de Miraflores é o elemento mais distintivo da vila. Localizada no topo do morro de mesmo nome. De origem árabe, e reconstruída no século XII, foi posteriormente consolidada pelos Templários, tornando-se num dos mais importantes baluartes desta Ordem. Este majestoso castelo rochoso está localizado, a 296 m de altura.
A construção que permanecem de pé são obras totalmente cristãs.
Ao longo de todo o século XIV e durante a segunda metade do século XVI , foram realizadas as grandes reformas, dotando-o de recintos defensivos e outros elementos de fortificação para poder dispor de artilharia e armamento pesado.
Neste local ocorreram numerosos confrontos entre os exércitos português e espanhol dada a sua condição de fortaleza fronteiriça com Portugal. Foi ainda ocupada pelo exército francês aquando da Guerra Peninsular até 1812.
De 1690 até o século XIX pertenceu ao marquesado de San Juan de Piedras Albas e Bélgida.

From 1690 until the 19th century it belonged to the marquisate of San Juan de Piedras Albas and Belgida.
