at some places they use a tape.the stick has a bubble level attached to it to keep it accurate.the string is marked with the correct depth.the stick gets the string out over the ditch for a more accurate measurement.if you run a tape down the slope it will read deeper than if the tape is vertical.

I love side cutters but not many companies use them any more. It's way easier to dig wide ditch,or corners ,or anything wider than one bucket.

no I don't work with trench boxes.on the pipeline we can almost always find the room to slope the ditch properly.not like in the city where you are limited for room almost all the time.

So they just use a string on a stick to check grade or depth?

Do you like using sidecutters on your bucket or do you like them off?

Could you explain what you mean by sag and over bend pls barry
@manhoer10 жыл бұрын
Anthony DONNELLY Sure a sag is a bend that comes out of a low spot, like a creek, or bottom of a hill,or a road boar ,or like in the video a pipeline crossing.An over bend is the bend at the top of a creek,hill,pipeline crossing exc.to make the pipeline follow the lay of the land or the engineers layout.hope that helps.
