Might an NPT have worked just as well? I don't have access to a lathe anymore. I'm starting to regret buying this car from a lady. Seems more difficult than anything I've ever worked on. V/R

@@robertbebout9171 NPT could have worked but I wanted the o-ring to seal with minimal torque.

Would a magnet along with the grease 1-2, turn at a time be cleaner?

It is aluminum, non magnetic.
