6G welding test with tig root pass on a 3" XXH wall, with a full tig welding procedure.
6G is where the pipe is fixed at a 45-degree angle and welded in this fixed position.
So, it basically covers flat, horizontal, vertical welding, and overhead in a single position.
In this video, I will break down the steps to pass the 6G position test, starting with the root pass, and in the second video, I will show the steps from fill passes to finish with a multi-pass cap.
The pipe welding techniques used, and the welding procedure is also identical to the AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX welder performance qualification (WPQ) pipe welding certification. As per ASME Section IX.
#tig #tigwelding #rootpass
All of my videos are recorded at working sites in various locations and different welding positions.
90% of my welding projects in videos are x-rayed, and if you like to see hands-on projects, welcome!
If you liked this video please give it a thumbs up, share it, subscribe and click the bell.
It doesn’t cost you anything but massively helps my KZbin channel. Thank you.

@@saifulhatf1151 hey sorry I just seen your message. Try with 5/32 gap and 1/8 filler rod, do as I shown in this video, freehand harder side first, keep in mind that you are allowed to use grinders so go slowly and if you think it’s not good fixed and continue on.

is turning your amps up helping keep that puddle up? i always get the puddle falling on my tungsten
@X3MTIG

Yeah little bit, inclination of your tungsten and travel speed is important.

U have help me learn more to prepare myself to retake my pipe next week I messed up in my cap but only difference is I’m using an roller button torch and I gotta run on 116 Amps on an 45 degree angle putting a root pass and cap on a 1/16 gap and either capping it with a 3/32 or 1/16 and but that cup I’m using it’s wayyyy bigger than the one in the video plus my torch im has a curve I don’t have nothing to sit my arm on to keep it steady so I’m thinkingg would it be better than to try to walk to cup it’s like size 8 or 9 I’m normally using an 6 but any suggestions
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG Жыл бұрын
Try with cup #8 and 3/32 rod, and walking the cup would be ideal.

how do you stop the suck back at the very bottom 6 o’clock just keep heat down?
@X3MTIG

Yes, or just make heavier root, or go with 3/32 with lower heat.

what size tungsten and size of filler rod?
@Recovery12Life
@Recovery12Life 11 ай бұрын
Looks like 1/8 tungsten and 7/16 filler wire lol i was thinking the whole time why the huge filler rod. But its probably both 1/8 3/32 would probably be a better choice but if you learn on 1/8 you will like 1/8

2.4mm both plus gap but all welders have different techniques so maybe 1.6mm filler wire

Who tf puts a bridge tack on a monster ? You’re not purging it do it the right way
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG 2 жыл бұрын
I do that, and every other professional welder. The tacks are usually specified in the welding procedure (aka WPS ...stands for welding procedure specification) and you should be provided with a copy of the WPS so read it and adhere to it. There you go, you learned something new today!
