Great review for two bikes which tend to be overlooked by the mainstream reviewers in Europe. One thing which I do not quite get is why you pronounced shiver the way you do. Maybe its an aussie thing. Anyhow, great review!
@6tdegrees6 жыл бұрын
No unfortunately it's not the Aussie accent it's just Matt Fountain speaking in tongue yet again, the correct pronunciation is Shiver not shy-ver. We do apologise

i have the dorsoduro 750 its 210 kilos with about half a tank and somehow it feels much heavier standing than my vstrom 650 . while riding it feels light and nimble though
@deweysturgill62203 жыл бұрын
Beautiful bikes, just wish they weren't so heavy . I'd buy one to accompany my Tuono in a heartbeat.
@bodes24166 жыл бұрын
I'm 5'7 and ride the Dorsoduro 900. You definitely get used to the height but need to be careful of the road camber at stops. I'm surprised you didn't talk about the engine braking though, that is something that should get a mention at least - real world riding in traffic at speed limit can be difficult to manage when the engine braking comes in and jolts you back and forth - right around that 50km/h speed in 2nd/3rd.

Hey whats the top speed of your dorsoduro 900
@bodes24166 жыл бұрын
It taps out at about 120 mph

What are you talking about with "engine braking" being an issue?

Is the Aprilia a reliable bike in the long run? And which one would be more expensive: parts and labor for a Japanese dual sport (or enduro) bike or the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900?
@SteveMuir Жыл бұрын
My mate would shudder seeing the dash on the Shiver out there in the elements with no protection after his Dorsodura 1200 died with water in the dash. (They hide the ECU in there. WHY?)
@luckystrike6566 жыл бұрын
I just can't decide for the First bike. Like the style of the dorsoduro and less one of the shiver. What are others in this category and price Tag?
@6tdegrees6 жыл бұрын
PajoPatak if you're looking for more of a motard sort of style, a second hand Ducati hypermotard would sink in to the same price bracket.
@thewitchfindergeneral6 жыл бұрын
You can also check the KTM 990 SUPERMOTO R (second hand) but it's a lot more "hooligan" than Ducati and Aprilia for sure, I mean I wouldn't recommend that for a first bike to be honest, but it worth mentioning it.

Thank you so much for this great review! Honest, fun and comprehensive! Is the headlight of the shiver equally dull if I may ask? Thinking of buying this bike (the shiver) seriously and use it in rain mode and traction control at 2 or 3 till I get used to it. I am just commuting right now on a small displacement scooter (a modern 150cc piaggio) and I have little experience to higher cc engines (and its been a while since I had one with a clutch, and a much weaker one too!).

Tell you live in hot climes, it’s shiver in Europe, as in cold😆. Good review though but the Dorsoduro is too heavy for a hypermoto.

I'm looking at possibly picking up a Shiver 900 next year some time. Every review I've seen almost everyone mentions how comfy it is. That and I'm 6'2" so I shouldn't have any issues getting my feet on the ground. I was looking at the Suzuki SV 650 and BMW F800R too. But from the reviews I've seen I like the features offered on the Aprilia, and I like the looks of it better too. At 12-15 hp more at the wheels than the SV 650 I think it should still make a good starter bike for me. Plus it has all the additional electronics built into it.

I love aprilia but, I think they need to hire some younger designers. it looks like two hand vacs coming off the back. Ugly breaks, plain fork tubes. How bout we pull out the CNC. shiver me a few details into my 10k+ machine. Nice job hiding those beautiful frame lines. That loaf of bread hanging off the front will help pick up a few pounds of mud if you hit the trail. It looks old and its new. But it's not made to look vintage... I'd still drive this if the price was right second hand.

Dunno, undertail exhausts seem cool, even if impractical. And wtf do u want from forks?
