i really enjoy the idea that these kids liked Guilty Gear so much that Justice girl and the gang kept playing over the summer; and as soon as her sister founded out she'd have OP as homeroom teacher, she immediately started grinding Faust. "Have you ever seen a bunch of people who have never touched a fighting game before try to play a fighting game?" Bruh I *was* the guy who never touched a fighting game before trying to learn how to play a fighting game. I remember the one time I tried to play +r, I gravitated towards Faust and quickly discovered that FS was a great poke. And that was pretty much all I ever did. My combos were stuff like 2p->2p->fs or js->fs. It kinda worked until my opponent got in and I'd lose half my health to Sol touching me while my combos did, like, an eighth of my opponent hp. Tbh, I've only gotten slightly better at fighting games since then. I play reasonable well at Fantasy Strike because all the combos are, like, 3 hits so most of the game is neutral and situational awareness. I also somehow manage to derp my way into floor 9 on Strive every now and then despite having only landed Pot Buster a grand total of once in a real match (I've gotten several HPBs though, that super never gets old for me). GG Strive is a world where Pot's Gatling combo is about as good as any other character's full combo (or close enough that I can fill the gaps by playing defense well).
