Ganguly as 12th man. I wonder why wasn't he given the chance to bat. He was better batsman than shastri and manjrekar. If ganguly started batting in 1991 he would've scored more runs and centuries. Being a good player against spinners he would've been crucial in 1996 semi final vs Lanka.

Portly, flabby in a lot of regions, poor fitness, complete lack of awareness (that Srinath runout), what a bad team this was. Tendulkar, Kapil, and Azhar are the exceptions. A word on Dean Jones, what an epitome of professionalism. Lean, fit, and running like a gazelle pushing that extra run all the time.

@@soumenchatterjee35098if I remember correctly the Hero Cup was in 1993…during the 1991-92 Australian tour and World Cup Kapil still bowled at a decent fast medium clip. But by 1994 when india hosted the West Indies he had lost his pace significantly. I guess he retired shortly after.
