I love the CRG. I used it for 3 straight days and by my calculations it avg'd 10 cents/hr for the modem usage. That is so much cheaper than Deere's yearly subscription price.

I know you have a lot of farmers visiting your site and watching your videos. Being a city slicker and now living in the "country" I always thought I should have been a farmer (but never had the opportunity). Instead I served my country and worked various jobs (I was once a tool and die apprentice) and finished my working career with 33 years as a mailman. My point is this. Cherish your farms and the job you do. Here in SW Ohio, the farmers have a hard time getting the next generation to carry on the tradition and often are offered so much money for their land (to develope into housing) that it makes sense to sell out. Unfortunately what happens when we have to rely on foreign countries to feed us. I appreciate what the farmers do for us and hope the rest of America wakes up and realizes farms are more important than building more houses. Again, I appreciate what you do for America. Keep up the good work!

That tester is easy to use, while it could seem like it's complicated. We have one for many, many years now and it's great. Though if we want one accurate number, we use the other one that's grinds the grain down.

I grew up in Idaho on a small farm. But you know this farm is huge when it takes a Space telescope to see across this corn field. Huge! I actually bolted in the cab a AC purculator coffee maker so I could have fresh coffee instead of using a 10 yr old Thermos. I thought I was in tall. Cotton with the coffee maker but no… When he climbed up to the combine and we see this gizmo dad was fooling with my first thought is these farmers have made it! They were making fruit smoothies in a combine. I had no idea about corn being dry. But I’m wondering why the corn was chopped when the corn stalks look green? A totally fascinating video about technology on how farmers feed the world. Loved this video. Subscribed now.

On your grain cart. On your auger. Down by the door to open it. Right above it there is a plug held on with either 4 bolts. Or an actual moisture sensor on there. It’s an option. Ours wasn’t optioned with it. So it just has a medal plate over the hole

The only exception to the “there’s no such thing as too much grease” rule is excavator swing bearing’s, give ‘em a good greasing every oil change, 250hrs at least cause I’ve seen too many guys hit the swing daily and blow the seals out and then the grease just falls out and eventually the bearing goes because of it

We've been running stalk devastators for 4-5 years now, and we've never had an issue with the slip clutches like you mentioned, so hopefully you'll be fine.
@SouthernILAg

We haven’t either, but I noticed theirs is a chopping head with all the trash flying backward. In my opinion you could unhook the blades and still do a good job with just devastators
@Beyonder8335
@Beyonder8335 Жыл бұрын
@@SouthernILAg now that you point it out that might do it. I agree, the devastators do a great job on your own. Turning off the blades may even free up some more power on the machine.

The mini gac by dickie john is junk. Same issues never read a consistent reading, and grain always has trouble sliding thru cup before it enters the testing chamber. I have bought several different testers over the years but 3 years ago i bought a Shore 930. It's easy to run and always a half point within the elevator. Best money I've spent on a checker.

So you're harvesting some of the corn now because you need some for a delivery. When do you think you'll get back to bringing in the rest of the corn? What percent moisture do you want it to be at?
@rawwetzel
@rawwetzel Жыл бұрын
It's better to under grease then over grease. Number one failure of bearings is over greasing. It will push the seals out and let dirt into the bearings causing premature where.

Love the video and always love seeing mean green. With the extensions are you still able to get it inside the shed?I hope you get the right moisture for you corn so you dont have to use energy just yet drying it.
@6thGenFarmer
@6thGenFarmer Жыл бұрын
Yes we can still get it inside the big shed, but need to unfold the extension to get it in the shop. As far as drying goes we found over the years that drying our wet corn is more profitable than waiting for it to dry naturally.
@scottmorrow5497
@scottmorrow5497 Жыл бұрын
I’ve asked a great number of people who always tell me that about how drying corn is more profitable if they could show me a side by side yield map with the yield difference at different moistures. Do you have any you could show me? I don’t want to know your yield you can scale the spatial data up to 500 bpa I can figure the % myself. Every time I’ve ever harvested early and came back late I lost money in the early harvested corn. @@6thGenFarmer
