He shows great balance, agility and hand-eye coordination for someone of his size. Yes also not physically weak. He also reads the game quite well. Plus at 18 he's likely to grow another inch and put on 15-20 more pounds. Big potential there.

You're absolutely right. We've seen many at this height who will barely dunk, and seem to force their moves. He is also very patient. Wow, if he get's the training at the next level and stays healthy, I see a beast.

The craziest thing, he's only been playing a couple years. He's a smart kid, 4.0 GPA in high school, and I've found that smarts tend to translate to learning many physical things as well. I hope he can develop into a good enough mover without breaking down physically.

I disagree. I don't see anything other than a future NBA bench-warming big. - He barely gets off the ground. pause some of his blocks and you will see what I mean. A lot of 7 footers don't jump too high on dunks, but every big knows to jump as high (and straight) as possible when protecting the rim. - He outruns the rim on the fastbreak (early in the clip) and akwardly dunks it after - Most importantly, he doesn't show one clip of him catching the ball outside of 4 feet with his back to the basket. He's not getting post entry lobs all day long in college, let alone the NBA. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. He obviously didn't get good enough advice, otherwise he would be playing at a top HS with an elite bball program, so he can get coached to play like a big at the next level, not just exploited to get points in meaningless HS games. ps- he's going to central florida
@balisticoben23
@balisticoben23 10 жыл бұрын
80teg he doesn't get off the ground because he literally doesn't need to, he can stand and dunk. And why would his team bother letting him catch it outside of 4 feet, its called playing to strengths, if I was on his team though, I'd be pissed only because the gameplan is obviously pass to Tacko, and I wouldn't be getting any shots lol

The thing about the really tall guys (7'2"+) is that they're often pretty fragile and prone to many different health problems and injuries. On top of that they're by far the slowest moving and slowest developing players in basketball. If there's one kind of basketball athlete who really should stay in college all four years it's a supersized center. They need the extra time to hone their coordination, conditioning, strength, footwork, get their weight at a moderate level (either losing or gaining) and learn how to use their special skills to make up for their inherent athletic weaknesses. If you're a super big kid like Tacko it serves you better to get the extra time and attention a smaller yet strong program like UCF can give you then to sit on a bench a year or two at a big school and wash out as an undrafted D-leaguer.
@thetortillachips

Very true, but this guy is slender but still toned for a young kid his amazing height. He doesn't have a body like yao's that carried some beef on it. He is also very athletic for his size.
@zyxwut321
@zyxwut321 10 жыл бұрын
***** Good point. He's as athletic a player for his size as any I've ever seen. He's also slim but solidly built and not emaciated like Manute Bol and Shawn Bradley were. I guess I'm a little frustrated about a player like Sim Bhullar who so obviously came out before he was ready to and now is struggling to stay in the D-league. I hope Mamadou Ndiaye (7'6") at UC Irvine stays in at least 3 years if not all four himself. These huge guys are so fascinating to me because they have the potential to change the game so dramatically but they have to be groomed and prepared right.

I wish this kid all the best. And, at 7'6" it's weird to think of him as a kid. Dunno why people would post negative comments here about a 17 year old in a brand new country. It's hard to really compare him to anyone I can think of when playing against this kind of inferior competition though. Is he as athletic as Yao? I dunno. He's more athletic than Bhuellar from what I can tell. Sounds like he didn't get into a top college program which isn't a good sign. But, it's possible this school was the first one to exploit this kid and offer the foreigner from Africa a free education. And, I may jump at that chance too if I was coming from poverty. Sounds like he has education on his mind more than basketball with his comments about being unsure about playing pro and wanting to be an engineer.

He's not doing any damage to any record book, the game isn't built for big men anymore. Hasheeem Thabeet was exactly like this guy in highschool and he can't even stay in the league. They've been talking about raising the rim for years, they're not gonna do it.

@ChrisHansonIsGod
@ChrisHansonIsGod 10 жыл бұрын
DtStayHoopin Thabeet doesn't have the footwork but big men just don't do as much anymore. Read talent? You watch a high school basketball game where the next tallest guy looks like he's 6'3. He's not a bluechip and other scouts agree. He's going to play for UCF which is not exactly a powerhouse school. He didn't get recruited by Duke, NC, Kentucky, Kanas... You think you know something they don't? He'll be fun to watch in college and might make it to the nba but will never be a top 10 player just how it is.
@gamemeister27
@gamemeister27 10 жыл бұрын
It's not about being taller than everyone else, otherwise Shawn Bradley would have been a monster NBA player. You have to be able to keep up and stay on the court, which gets harder and harder the taller you get. That's why Yao Ming was incredible, he was a normally proportioned human that was 7'6 in shoes and moved like an NBA athlete. Apparently, this kid can actually move pretty well, but an actual NBA tenure depends heavily on how he develops both basketball wise and physically.

Hes skinny,lacks cordination, bad footwork and is only playing well in HS cuz he can sit under the hoop and just catch passes.

Check out footage of the 17 year old Wilt Chamberlain. He looked less coordinated than this guy and he developed into one of the greatest player ever. Athletes with that kind of freakish height need time to develop. And that is the point, there are no 7'6 players around. Well, that is basketball, height is an advantage.
