This video made me cryyyyyy(in a good way)! I'm from the Pacific NW originally though I'm currently living in Central Texas like you! When the rain came that first time especially I stood outside for the whole 20 minutes it was here. Gratitude and joy and relief! I came to life just like my dead brown backyard. For those who really would like to try living this life. Location is huge. You are at the mercy of mother nature so why not try starting in an area where you have a better year round environment.

You are 100% correct. Quick answer, family. All of our family is here. But yup, it is very possible that we might move somewhere different when family begins to pass on. But for now, we want our kids to see the grandparents as much as possible.

Great Video am in Cypress TX shopping for an homestead now ! Do not waste money on new panels! Buy aftermarket used good panels from SanTan Solar with warranty and tested save thousands like I do ,panel technology changes to fast to buy new and waste good money !

Can’t really dig a well here. And we did build the biggest pond we could. We only have 7 acres, so 1/4 acre pond isn’t bad. Probably will dog another pond in the front sometime in the future.

I would call a couple drilling companies and see if you can get an estimate or hopefully an appointment to have the boss come over. He or she gets impressed with your hutzpah and presto...swimming hole.

Thats normal for us to go without any rain for months living in eastern mediterranean and having crazy temperatures in the summer. This year i want to plant onion seeds for bulbs for the first time. Any idea when to plant them? Also we never raise chickens on summer because they die because of the heat. Only in the fall and early spring
