Which of the 7 aspects do you think are the most significant in defining Romantic Literature?

I’d love a video on Romanticism! Also, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Don Quixote. I’m reading it right now, and I’m just crying with laughter.

I have really enjoyed watching your videos recently. I’m on a classics binge and it was lovely to find another booktuber putting out quality content about classics. I’d love to see more list type videos. I really enjoy videos on a particular theme or even a particular region listing recommendations.

I rather enjoyed your writing sample at the end. I think you should keep going and see what develops from it. Or, at some point down the road, go all David Mitchell and take your various examples and combine them into a single novel, with each section a different literary style!

"How it makes him feel," yes, all about feelings, getting in touch with the feminine, Mother Nature. "Beauty is a joy forever," and "she walks in beauty as the night." There is a reason they were rock stars, outside societal norms. When poverty comes through the door, love goes out the window. Reminded me of Willoughby from Sense and Sensibility. Does Austen precede? Is it harkening back to courtly love too, Ivanhoe? He will end in a garret, dying from consumption and for his art, end scene with a dying candle, as Debussy is played in the background. Good job, maybe he better contact the old man for yet another loan. Thank you.

Another great video Tristan. I am guilty, I am one that I always thought of Romantic as a love story 😂 so this is very helpful and informative. I consider myself new to Classics so channel like yours helps me to comprehend the classics more. I would like for an in depth video. Thanks Tristan for all your work.

Happy to help Charmaine! I will get around to a video on Romanticism at some point. I just need to scrape enough hours in the day together.😀

Very interesting. I think that breaking the norms is the most important aspect that drove many of the romantic novels I've read. Worked to help change society for the better.
@tristanandtheclassics65383 жыл бұрын
Yes it did. I think the romantic values of humanity and goodness prompted a desire in many to improve the state of affairs. 😀👍

Love this breakdown, Tristan! Very interesting to me as a reader of classic romantic literature and actually very helpful as a novel writer too to be presented with these themes as a cluster. Sensibility for me is the most powerful and engaging part of the romantic novel! P.S if that's an unedited first draft then I would LOVE to read your finished writing!!
@tristanandtheclassics65383 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the placing of Sensibility at the pinnacle of Romantic literature. It is the clear baring and emphasis of feeling which really lifts it into it's own distinct genre. As for finished writing, I really must force myself to actually finish a book. A novella at least. Do you write?
@HowVeryNovel3 жыл бұрын
@@tristanandtheclassics6538 I do write. Pastiche/satire of 18th/19th century stuff mostly. I finished my first novel last year and I'm just about to finish my second. I've really found my writing bug, but it took me 10 years of writing to finally finish a novel!
