Firstly I want to thank Manali for sharing these amazing compositions in raga Yaman in her beautiful voice which is rich and clear in Aakar. Most of the singers from these gharanas intentionally don’t sing words clearly, thinking that composition will be stolen, but their narrow mindedness doesn’t realize that more and more people will connect if they sing with generosity. I wish Manali included a beautiful composition in Yaman sung by Pt Kumar Gandharva, “Kinare, Kinare kashti bandho”. Kumar Gandharva does not belong to any gharana but to himself, that’s why completely different. Manali, you are too good.

A commendable contribution. Different Bandishes produce different moods and the Gharana specialities add their own flavours. But to make that experience possible either stalwarts from different Gharanas should collaborate or the artist must have undergone training in all important Gharana styles. I find Yaman presented by Ustad Amir Khan and Pandita Kishori Amonkar produce very different emotional ambience.
