You only need power steering for parking, some cars reduce assistance when you are moving so you still have 'feel' which is better than on all the time.

Those are not hubcaps. They're wheel covers. Hubcaps were smaller and grabbed onto the contures of the steel wheel. Police and utility vehicles had them. So did cheap cars or stripped-down models.

There used to be something we called a suicide knob. Back when some cars had manual steering, you could attach a free-spinning knob to your steering wheel that would give you enough leverage to turn the wheel one handed.

One of the main things he didn't mention is how cars are forced to be bubble cars now, this is due to how people fall onto bonnets when running over someone i think. also the amount of cross beams, thick a-pillars and airbags.

My 2016 subaru has full size plastic hubcaps on aluminum wheels. I think their to reduce fuel consumption and stop brake sparks from hitting the paint. I didn't use them last summer. The wheel noise was higher I believe.

it is so simple, with no power steering you just need to relase brake or move wheels foward a little bit and move stering wheel, most people stand on brake and try to move stering wheel and is no way to do it.

I have a 1991 toyota truck that came factory with no passenger side mirror, and I had a 1991 plymouth hatchback years ago that also didnt have one. So you could still buy cars without them in the early 90s. The toyota truck doesnt even have a rear bumper. It was common to be able to purchase base model vehicles then without rear bumpers. I think Nissan sold them this way also.

Hub Caps are not extinct at all. Almost every bottom level car has hubcaps rather than alloys. Also, as a teenager, I don't know a single person who doesn't know what crank windows are. Some of my friends with new cars even still have them.

Those are not hub caps. Those are called wheel covers. Hub caps just capped the hub, leaving the rest of the wheel exposed. Matter of fact hub caps are still being used today.

My '18 300 came with a donut. I took it out and bought a full size wheel and tire. It doesn't fit in the well, but I do have a full spare.
