Looking at this now as a fresh HCIM, it's amazing that almost all of these tips are precautionary measures in case of a DC. Jagex really needs to have measures in place for this mode in the event of a DC. Every death I've seen is from a DC, not an actual death.

A dc isn't always a fault of the server on jagex end.

Some are ISP caused. My internet goes out every night between midnight and 1. Thankfully I'm usually in bed but if I'm playing I'll make sure to be on mobile with wifi turned off.

Honestly, after a few years of this guide being out it cracks me up some of these little tips. Log out instead of Afk - Mini Chocobo (F) Dangerous stuff first - guy who got 200m fm and then died to a fire giant We all fall to wack stuff. Love the vids, would like an updated version of this.

died as #67, 2085 total. had ring o flife on and died on a herb run at troll stronghold, lagged out before i could even click melee prayer on and a troll just killed me. mind u i had graceful 99def 99hp ring of life, still died. be careful people, any aggressive monster place put on your prayers and have a ring of life. good vvid btw

My first hcim died to the mugger west of lumbridge at total level 70 or so, and my second one died in level 3 of the stronghold. Third one is total level 2k as of yesterday, and we still going strong

This is a great video on some basic steps a hardcore player can take. You should consider making a more in-depth video on tactics hardcores can utilize to optimize their gameplay to reduce risk. There's a lot of potential things that can be done macro wise to make things safer, especially taking dcs into account. Would potentially be a lot of work but would be a great resource for up and comers and a benefit to the community. stay safe =)

I lost my first hc to troll generals missclick and dc on my first farm run at the stronghold. On my current and second hc, I've experienced 2 close calls. The first being a dc while blackjacking, and the second due to overconfidence. As i was leaving karamja to start mm1, i realized i needed monkey bones, but forgot about the tribesman Both situations brought me to below 5 hp.

Coming back from a hardcore Iron Man last night.. I had a combat level 108 that I lost about 12 years ago then about 4 years ago I started playing again and have a level 104 that surpassed my level 108 in quest points and all of that good stuff but after being gone for 3 years I don't really know what to do in the game anymore back when I last played I was doing high-level Slayer and getting into bosses my man has about 10 mL in cash and about 25m in gear, I think I would do really well on a hardcore Iron Man because I don't recall dying a single time on my main character I am a pretty safe player

poh deaths are safe, that's why house tabs are such a good one click tele. Just make sure you have it set to tele you inside your house, not outside

I'm so paranoid about DCs that I do something a little crazy. My internet sucks (spectrum, rural south) so I do quest bosses on mobile with wifi off. Eliminates almost all possibility of a disconnect. I know some are server side, but for me most have been from my router just going dead for a few seconds randomly. And I was really paranoid about gaining HP at the beginning so I sunk months into training non combats now I regret not doing mage arena 1. Oh well

I am confused. If you either switch status or die, it said that the hardcore highscore is frozen. Does that mean it freezes that acc's highscore in general? Or can you continue the leaderboard on the regular ironman highscore

I think it just gets frozen in the hardcore hishscores and continues like normal in the regular Ironman highscores. You also get your name crossed out.

That's true! I'm just not a huge fan of grinding 99 fm through WT right away. Rewards are scaled by some of your other skills, and I personally don't think it's worth grinding all the way to 99 right away. I prefer to compromise and get around 85-95 and then go back later if needed.
