Don't forget the iron in spirulina! 1 gram has 156% rda. I started using it in 1979! It's great for pregnancy and little kids. Squelches nausea, especially 1st trimester if you've waited too long to eat and feel like you can't. Used it in modified, long fasts to spare muscles in the crazy days of 30 day fasts. Kids go crazy for it in a shake with just a half banana, almond, etc. Great for grass on a birthday cake. Ghoulish Halloween treats Saved sick kitties by dropper feeding several times. Been used for food by Africans living near Lake Chad since ancient times. Dried and stored in cakes.

@@Dutch_Gonneke I find that good quality spirulina isn't bitter. Now is reliable brand. I usually tell folks to start with a small amount in water. Easier way to get used to the taste. If it's extremely bitter it may be a genetic thing, like hating cilantro. I'm genetically predisposed to not noticing, or enjoying bitter tastes. Maybe easier in a shake sweetened with allulose or another keto-friendly sweetener. No kidding, my kids would beg for my banana, spirulina shake when I made them for pregnancy snack.

I made tuna salad the other day with 2-cans of light chunk tuna, 4-hard boiled eggs, dill pickle relish, one stalk of celery (shopped), and two tablespoons of avocado mayonnaise. I threw a few spices (salt, pepper, garlic powder, ginger, and squeezed half a lemon into it). I ate that for like 3 days and it was very filling. It also helped my constipation.

57 is a good age to be working on the rest of your life. When I had my heart valves replaced in 2019, the surgeon said that my original equipment valves had "calcified". I didn't know what that meant. Recently, I've been hearing a lot about vitamin K2 and how it directs calcium out of soft tissue and into the bones where it belongs. I also heard about a very large study, where thousands of people were given Vitamin K2 (MK7). Half were given 100 mcg per day and the other half were given 300 mcg in divided doses. The higher dose half of the study showed the best results. They did a smaller study where they gave even higher doses but it seemed to be the most helpful at 360 mcg per day in divided doses. Higher doses had no effect. So I've been taking 300 mcg K2 (MK7) for the past 2 months - 100mcg in the morning with coffee and cream (you're supposed to take it with food but I only eat once a day) and the other dose (200 mcg) in the evening with my meal. I take a lot of different vitamins, minerals, and herbs but I have really felt the difference since I've been doing K2 this way. It's rare when you hit on a supplement that you actually feel the difference. I am off of one of my blood pressure meds (Liscinoptil) and have reduced my water pill to less than one dose per week. Summer's coming and I look forward to getting outside much more (by the grace of God).

Regarding the Spirulina numbers. The statement should be that is has 126% MORE(100%+126%) protein than beef (more than double). Saying it has 126%(1.26) of the protein means only 26% more so it would be 31.5 per 100g rather than 57g. I understood what you meant after you mentioned the 57 but before that I was "ok not much more so I'll stick to what I know (beef)". Still great vide o and thanks for all the information you provide.

Hi there, interesting video, thanks. I understand that it's great to get 5-10 grams of protein here and there throughout the day and that's easy enough, but what about the concept of anabolic threshold? I've read (thru NASM) that basically you need 20-25g of protein for your body to really have any anabolic response, so it's good to get at least that per intake of protein. so is getting 5-10 grams here and there through a snack really even helpful? (I hope it is...just asking....thanks)

I started taking 2g of spirulina every week day in my health shake (just for the antioxidants), and it massively improved my allergies (even on days I don't take it). So then I looked it up and read about all these new studies showing that it's probably effective for rhinitis. If they're just discovering what I independently discovered so obviously and clearly, I wonder what other inflammation "modulation" it might do.

Body can utilize upto 6% of protein in spirulina, rest is converted into glucose by liver. May be by mixing spirulina with other amino acids you can increase the absorption

Thanks so much for this information. I have an autistic son that has food sensory issues that seem to include most forms of protein 😒. So now I have more options to introduce and hopefully one will pan out for us.

I would love to see examples of how to incorporate these foods. Or links to types you know are good (like the spirulina). i did notice that there are missing links also on the PDF for your feast and fast (like the magnesium "GET IT HERE" link doesn't exist at all).

To get rid of belly fat you need do strength training. If you don't increase your protein level to about 1 gram of protein per pound of weight that you are, your muscles won't be able to recover from the strength training and you'll actually lose muscle mass. Therefore, you must increase your protein intake along with incorporate strength training to lose belly fat. Look how buff this guy is. He definitely lifts weights.
