The alternator on my truck will sometimes stop charging on start up. I'll disconnect it and reconnect it and it'll work fine. Then a few days go by and I have to go through the same process. Everything is new, even cables and fuses. Could the regulator just be bad? 2010 gm 6.2l..

Quick check turn car on go. And remove a battery cable if car shuts off then it's the alternator, check all connection and fuses with a volt meter, quick fix is spray WD 40 into the holes on the alternator, that will lube it and it may start charging again mine did.

I replaced the alternator, I replaced the battery, The fuses are ok and I recently cleaned the body throttle One day, I was stuck in a traffic, very slow motion, my AC was running, and all of a sudden, all the lights came on the dash, then the lights went dark and the car stopped !! I got a battery boost and went home with the AC turned off... It doesn't happen when I have the heater on, only when the AC is on. Please give me ideas where to start troubleshooting :(

Mechanic changed the alternator in 2010 Nissan Frontier 4.0 six cylinder. Old alternator initially charged battery properly after starting (14.0 volts), then after engine runs for about 3 to 5 minutes, voltage starts dropping to about 12.8 volts even while driving on the interstate. After stopping and shutting down the engine, then restarting the engine, the same process always repeats itself. Mechanic replaced the alternator with a new alternator, but it did not correct the problem. Had the battery checked at AutoZone, battery checks state of charge 82%, cranking health: PASS. Why didn’t new alternator correct the charging problem?
