This is a very useful video for both beginners and experienced woodworkers. Sometimes we overlook some of the simplest things you can do with clamps. Good video keep up the good work!

Good video. I use wooden hand screw clamps for all kinds of stuff…like at 0:35 I’d clamp two big ones down on the bench (usually with two more… but could use F-clamps C-clamps, trigger clamps) and clamp the piece standing up in the hand screws. Also use them directly as stops on sleds, as quick fences on a drill press or bandsaw, etc.

Excellent video! I don’t have many clamps but find myself needing them often. Getting a few for each project is a great idea……… but I will certainly draw the line before ending up like those “clamp wall” photos! 😂

A couple of things: I think you meant convex, not concave. You want the bow touching the center of the panel first and have the clamping bring the edges of the cauls in. Minor thing when calculating the angle of the effect of the clamps - it should be 45 degrees from the edge of the clamp surface touching the workpiece - not the center. In the same way you can add an extra non-glued board to a panel glue-up effectively widening the area of the clamping effect

It doesn't matter how many clamps you have, there WILL always be a job that you NEED one more clamp.

Thanks for the great clamping tips! Is that a butcher block workbench top? I was thinking about looking for some to build mine but not sure

Yes the butcher block top is great! Make sure to get a hardwood top like birch or maple.
