My stepmother has been abusing me my entire life, both physically and emotionally. I've watched her age over the years and grow into a thoroughly miserable person. She's now on 20 different medications, she's morbidly obese, she has diabetes and cannot breathe without the aid of an external oxygen tank. All she does is gamble online and watch TV. Meanwhile, I've grown into a fine human being. I'm healthy and happy and I emanate joy wherever I go. I've learned that if you deny these people the ability to pass their toxic energy onto you, it will consume them and lead to their own destruction. You CANNOT sympathize with the wicked.

It's been wicked of her to even draw a breath. May i say it seems obvious you've risen above her meanness and let it make you strong and deeply understanding? ❤🎉good for you!!! Hug❤

Good point - You can't change toxic people; they deal in blurred boundaries. These videos of Jordan Peterson have been very helpful for me to make the decision to totally eliminate some people from my life.
@cathyholsopple2041Ай бұрын
Several of these comments are totally not at all what Jordon is referring to. I agree with him 100 %. I worked with a very toxic group at work. These people did exactly as Jordon states. It is a matter of distancing yourself from the negative behaviors but not doing so in a mean manner...you just need to protect yourself from the truly toxic behavior. Do not accept being treated poorly by others. Also regarding friends, listen to their problems, be there for them...they aren't toxic just because they have a problem, it is the people who do nothing but complain every single day, non stop, that you want to avoid. It is all about boundaries. It is good to have boundaries...there are way too many toxic people these days. Spend more time with those who bring good vibes...you will feel better.

Interacting with toxic people can reveal our own vulnerabilities, helping us understand ourselves better and break patterns we may unknowingly repeat ❤

JP is toxic as well. His posts totally upset me. I feel anger after listening to his posts. He criticizes others constantly and lives in fear of the future. If he had faith in God he would have faith in the future.

Leaving God and the Bible out of the equation only creates band aid solutions generally. Knowing Jesus's teachings will lead you to the actual truth and the truth will set you free. Im sick of wrestling with anything else. Praise be to God. Amen.

God doesn't fix toxic people. They often are too evil inside to even think they need fixed. Some people are just awful. I guess you could pray daily for them but not sure it will ever help these people.

God doesn't fix toxic people?? You've got to be kidding...read your Bible ..that's not true..there are many evil people God has chanhged
@mickeysammy516925 күн бұрын
@cathyholsopple2041 You are correct- they are evil. God gives us all mercy and grace, but does not make anyone a puppet. It is through His mercy that He gives them every opportunity to repent and believe. Our job is to pray and love our enemies. This is far from easy to do, but it is what we're called to do. Yet, sometimes at a distance.

You know all this advice is great unfortunately most people now are putting people into category ie a person who is going through a break up and can only talk about that because that is hurting them but no one wants to hear them because they are depressed and negative in their conversation . I have seen this happen so many times at work that I have taken time to listen to the person yes weighting me down but someone needs to listen . Most of us walk around having no concerns for others and people are suffering in silence because if they talk they are considered “ Toxic “ this is a sad situation.
@heathermariearmbrust18 күн бұрын
U r soooo right! People did it to me and it just made me worse. We all need more empathy and to learn it doesn’t HAVE TO weigh u down. It can be a choice.

Really found the repetition of "the smart person" and "the toxic person", a bit much. And I thought it is meant to be better to define the behaviour not the person? I get the points your making and thank you for that, just wanted to share this perspective
@Moonswing31Ай бұрын
There are so many of these Ai lectures out now, using the voice of JP, but stressing the wrong parts of sentences and not understanding punctuation correctly. I can’t stand listening to these and would appreciate if someone stopped churning them out!
@NaturesresonancecsheedyАй бұрын
Ah..that makes so much sense! Was thinking the voice sounded a little odd, like he was reading it out, and also the defining the person, not the behaviour, very black and white..thank you for pointing this out..

I think this video could be toxic to people in abusive relationships because it uses the word ‘smart’ people don't let toxic behaviour affect them. Leaving a toxic relationship is smart.

That’s okay. He probably is. We all are. EVERY ONE wears the hat of hero, villain and victim at various times throughout their lives. Peterson has. So have I. This video has great insight into how to recognize and deal with it.

Thanks for honoring free speech. As a Protestant Conservative ... Jordan is full of toxicity whenever he mentions the word Liberal. I agree with the words in the podcast “Full of Rage” by Gabor Maté Thoughts On Jordan Peterson kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH62iIN-nsuMfac

Many of Jordan's Evangelical acolytes wanted him to run for the office of Prime Minister of Canada ... but they couldn't seem to become "organized" enough to "pull it off." Maybe they were too busy trying to learn how to clean their own rooms ... the way Jordan taught them ... when their parents couldn't manage that job.
