Machine and Morris, usually bring the heat and temper in to amp up any battle, but in this one, they look like they were just having fun. Even Hong who's usually expressionless during battles is smiling his heart out. I love everything about this battle.

Can anyone answer why the US, who created this artform. Seem to be way behind in skill, form, and musicality? What are we lacking? What s it that's giving bboys from other countries an edge? I swear, we get slayed every chance we go up against another country. We don't look as clean and polished as other bboys. Though other countries at times lack soul and seem to be going through the motions. I really would like to get a discussion going about this, so maybe we can start to bring more to the table so the culture evolves.

+bbkg1979 I think other countries are so much attracted by America they started breaking as well too. America is still really good and has a hella lot of dope bboys, but many of them still have the old school style. After all, they're still the founders of bboying. It's just that because it became so popular in other countries, the level has really gone up. Same with the sport darts for example: It's originally an English pub sport, but now Scottisch and Dutch players are starting to take over.

+bbkg1979 I think one thing that has to be taken into account is that a lot of the times, American b-boys facing foreign b-boys, especially on US home soil, are facing arguably THE BEST that that country has to offer. E.g. Freestyle Session, Silverback, these are US events and most competitors are American b-boys of different levels, whereas the foreign b-boys that come over to compete are usually top quality b-boys otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford to travel all the way anyway. So if we were to look at an all-out Korean b-boy comp in Korea, we might see the same problem with Korean b-boys that you're identifying right now for US b-boys. Just my theory though

Meanwhile, in the US, people are consistently thrown out of practices, there's no funding, and there's no support. Korea is also has a cultural mentality of "go hard or go home." You know that stereotype of Asian's being super nerdy and smart? It's because it's instilled in our culture. Meanwhile, the US seemingly still operates with a notion of the 9-5 is the only way to live. It doesn't serve to foster the growth of anything other than company robots.
