I would just like to point out that Callum never used the cheated Rare Candies on his final team, he used it to grind up a Pokemon that learned Spore because he was under the impression that he needed to catch a legendary Pokemon to proceed through the game. He was incorrect and suffered the consequences.

Considering that Clover prides itself I being difficult, I can completely understand there bring measures to circumvent cheaters who want an easy way out. Yep, the game detects pretty much every form of cheating and will punish you for it after beating the Champion, or, if you cheated in the post game, it will delete your save file after beating a boss. It also discourages save states, but since save states dont actually affect the game in any way it cant detect them. It attempts to punish save stating however by setting all possible turn RNG before you can make an action for that turn, so if you save before making an action, then perform that action again and again through loading a save state the turn will play out the same way every single time including damage rolls, misses and crits. This was not the case in the base Pokemon games where turn RNG is determined when you make the action and can therefore be manipulated in TAS runs

I don't understand the need to punish cheating in games. I don't think some game developers realize that after you've beaten a game you can get an additional good amount of hours just running around testing debug/cheats. If the player wants to ruin their experience by cheating during main game, that should be on them. It's their money down the drain for the ruined experience. That last one was likely malware. No game, let alone PC, should be able to track your IP address or the activities without permission. Pokemon Clover actually has another anti-cheat feature, but it's at the start of the game instead of the end. As soon as you get your starter there's an obligatory battle with your two rivals, one of them being Keksandra, but if you somehow cheated before this happens, instead of her usual dialogue she would say something like "Cheating already? git gud :^)" and then softlocks the game.

They did the next best thing and made the RNG for battles generate before a turn begins, meaning you can't savestate abuse for flinches or crits and such, but that kind of system is still exploitable in its own way. They DID design code to detect emulator speedup, but decided that was too much.

Number 4 isn't really a punishment though, it's just a game breaking bug. When the game is saved with the riot cheat, there's text string that gets injected into the game which doesn't feature an undo option, even if you disable the cheat code ingame (Speaking from my memory from a video I watched explaining the entire thing).

My buddy got banned because he was playing some Arcade-simulator game right before, and used Cheat Engine to give himself some coins. He forgot to close it before launching Warzone and got banned ASAP. So, at least we KNOW they have a ban system that they're failing to use!

@Easter Egg Hunter GTA SA issue isn't a punishment for cheating. Its a oversight that certain cheats cause the script to break. Wish people would stop assuming GTA/Donkey Kong 64 had "punishment for cheaters" when its just the cheats/codes breaking the game itself.

Yep, certain cheats are fine i.e. ammo cheats, armor cheats, health cheats, weapon cheats, money cheats etc. BUT if you use different cheats like say spawn a vehicle that you have yet to unlock; that's when it'll start glitching etc. It'll also say "How many times cheated:" in the information screen lol

It actually shouldn't (since mission characters are special actors, not a normal pedestrian), guess R* forgot that check with this cheat. Worst oversight though is that you *could* enter a cheat accidentally by just playing the game due to the way the cheat code system is set up (it's also why baguvix is a valid cheatcode even though it's not the intended one 😆...)

The San Andreas one is a glitch rather than a punishment. Theres a file that stores what each type of pedestrian does, and that is modified temporarily when you use the peds fight each other cheat. When you disable it or save (which disables it), the ped file is reverted back to its original state but a couple of the entries are accidently overwritten with the wrong information. Its possible to fix this if you saved with the cheat in the past.

I would say hmm...it would have to be between Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon and Banjo Kazooie considering that both have punishments for cheating or using a pirated copy of the game with in Spyro 3, Zoe saying "Sorry Spyro, seems like you're using a hacked copy of this game!" and would literally boot you out at the final boss and literally just does not allow you to save (as it would keep coming up saying "no memory card detected" or "save data corruption, cannot save" on it. Banjo-Kazooie is quite funny as you're only allowed two cheats and that's it.
