Fun fact: Motorcycle plates are even more costly in Shanghai. A whopping 600k RMB for a plate that allows you ride inside the inner ring of the city. And the only way you can acquire one is through scalpers, the government stopped issuing new ones long ago.

@@shanghaiandi768 Yeah it's insanely overpriced. Hence the scarcity of bikers in SH. I mean, a 100K USD plate that costs more than a luxury car in the US...

Shanghai is a first-tier city, and the cost of living, including food and accommodation, is relatively expensive. However, there are many job opportunities available. If your income is average, then your living conditions may be compromised to some extent

No.8 kids education is a big idea for most Chinese family. We started it at a very early age and invest tons of money and effort into their schooling. In my opinion, this is meaningless competition.😪
@moxiebombshell Жыл бұрын
Interesting - I wonder what would happen if all the people who think it's meaningless would quit participating? I can't help but think how good community schools could become if they gained more resources and more students, and ones with reasonably well-off parents who care about their children's education at that! In New York City, it's really bad, too - expensive and so competitive. A friend had to write multiple essays, have a home visit and take her child for several interviews FOR A PRE-SCHOOL PLACEMENT for a 3-year-old! She said, too, that she thinks it's ridiculous. Child development experts and early-education specialists have weighed in on the subject and almost all agree that it's ridiculous - early childhood education is incredibly important, of course, but quality early childhood education doesn't have to be expensive, and even just the stressful process and pressure in getting into the "right" school is a ton of unnecessary stress for such little kids.

Shanghai is like this, other cities in China will be cheaper, for example, you can buy your own house with 200k RMB, but in Shanghai, you can only buy a balcony, but small cities are not as dynamic, developed and beautiful as Shanghai, could you please add Chinese subtitles in the next video
