it is not a silence retreat still there is times of total silence there. birds still chirp during those times ;-)

are you familiar with the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh ? he is a poem writer, and his teachings are full of joy. so singing his poems from the heart totally make sense. walking meditation is a common practice at the Plum Village, i don't see it here ? the practice of mindful eating is shortly illustrated here. as well as the practice of what they call total relaxation. i enjoyed this video very much but you are right here we see other aspects of the Plum Village. music is a very important way to enjoy the sense of community and the joy in the communion/family, that people crave. you are right in this video there is a lot of life and surprisingly not a lot of silence. your comment combined with the video made me smile. 😊

​​@@celinee.9562 am familiar with this group, I have been there... In Thailand, in France... It's all fine, they do it their way. It doesn't have to be in full silence but in Thay plum village for example, in the dorms at night, or even during the bell times in general, some wouldn't stop gabbing (including monastic) 😅 It was not very supportive. But they are friendly and playful for sure 👍😊 Then one day a few bhikkhus from an Ajahn Chah monastery visited. One of them had such clear piercing eyes... He gave me a strong and inspiring impression. Just by looking at me he made me see myself!! So, later on, I went to Chithurst monastery, and learned to practice there 🙏🌸

GREAT speech . Theism and atheism and christianity and islam and gnostic and agnostic are not the truth . The truth is the unity in impartiality principle . Yes unselfishness . Yes mindfulness . No buddhism . No Islam , etcetera . Carpe diem . Enjoy calmly .

These people aren't really separatist, as they welcome everyone and wish to treat everyone with kindness, without discrimination. The monastics live differently because they want to keep their tradition alive for those who want to learn about it. One of the ideas behind engaged Buddism is to find a way for people to live in peace together dispite their differences. The idea behind the Krishnamurti quote of not developing a separatist ego is good, but if the quote is taken to the extreme to mean that everyone would have to live the same way and believe the same things to not be considered violent, it would only promote a mentality that creates intolerance.
