Europe never has a shortage of rude people. He probably knew you were just messing around, but at the end of the day what is his story? Is he expecting people to buy a hat without trying it on first? Plus with that attitude, visible out on the street, he's not exactly going to be attracting a lot of customers. There's a big anti-tourism movement growing in Europe at the moment. Well, good luck to this guy when he has to sell €50 hats to only locals.

I remember watching the Barcelona protests where tourists were being sprayed water and being hit with water balloons... a lot of residents and businesses depend on tourism even though another person may be irritated by it. Grievances can be aired but being rude and chasing away tourists will have unintended negative consequences

I don't know when you filmed this but judging by the sea and the signs on the streets, you made the right decision to avoid the "lagoon tour" in Malta. Presumably that's for the Blue Lagoon, which looks great on pictures but it's a wasteland in bad weather and peak summer, and won't impress you after the Philippines...
