I'd say you did pretty well for a first ever Rebirth horde night. I imagine pretty much everyone who has played this overhaul has had a very similar experience. Heck, I had seen videos and knew what to expect and still got absolutely wrecked. Closing in on WitchDoctor level 2. The real fun is on its way. GG Sir, looking forward to the next one.

Yikes! Good to know horde night doesn't end if you die. Rough man, rough. I had to use a thin layer of cheese for my base. 1/2 thin pole next to the raised bunker so they can't mass up. Next block out is another 1/2 pole the opposite side (which creates a 1 block gap that that the masses will fall through) . You got a push turret, so can position that as well. 4:30 that’s why i carry around build blocks. I’ve been in that same situation more times than I’d like to admit. I just run over to a POI , nerd pole up to the roof. Sometimes you get lucky and can parkour to a place where they can’t get to you. Beats dying, just gotta think outside the box Original Gangster!

Look at slot 8 on my toolbar. Also, poling up on to a building with a large horde +boss chasing you isn't going to save your ass in the long run. They will not stop and will not be able to kill them with no ammo. Maybe reconsider how you think outside the box 😉

@ yeah I always go into cardio, parkour so I can run longer and jump higher than normal. Get the boss to attack my dog and always have a bow with tons of arrows. It’s pretty ez for me to survive those situations. I can tell you’re not very efficient with K&M. But practice makes perfect. 😉

If you have been watching the series from the start, I haven't exactly had a surplus of points to put into those skills. I need to focus on my main skills/perks this early on. It is also unnecessary (and inaccurate) for you to say I am inefficient with the K&M. The only thing that you said that does make sense is about the arrows. Yes, I could have had more arrows in my inventory and I could have, eventually, killed the adds even though I have no skill in archery. Moving forward, I have my black magic arrows, so I could do what you're suggesting now. One thing to keep in mind, I play the game to have fun and I don't worry about doing everything perfect all the time. What you think is perfect or right is subjective anyway.

@ You’re absolutely correct. The whole point in playing theses video games is to have fun. My opinion is irrelevant. Just throwing some tips out there that i think would help bc they help me. And good idea changing your keybind to call your dog to a mouse button. That’s what I was referring to by saying you have to look down at your keyboard to press the buttons which is inefficient. Mouse buttons are much easier and faster which makes a big difference in a tense situation like the boss/horde. Keep doing you OG. Love the beard btw 😉

Ok. Appreciate your response. Perhaps I read more into your comments than what you intended. My apologies. I have a low tolerance for trolls and people who backseat game on the channel. In particular, when people tell me I am doing something wrong or that I "should" do this or that when I am just having fun. It can also be hard to gauge intent when all you have is text to look at. Guns and Nerds and Steel channel is doing Rebirth playthrough also. His horde night base did somewhat better but he used a narrow block for the zombies to stand on. He built his horde base up on a tower which meant most of the zombies fell and had to come back around again. However, eventually some of the spiders were squeezing through at the bottom of the fighting position and he had to abandon his base too. I would think a combination of the auto sledge and giving the zombies a narrow walking path to the fighting position might work.

I just started watching his as something to tide me over between these episodes. It’s cool to see the different versions of the mod since GNS did his a year ago but also did a witch doctor run as far as I’ve seen. Not sure if he’s done others.

You don't need a mortar and pestle to make the potion. Craft the schematic in your inventory, read it, make the brews in your cooking fire. Sorry, wanted to mention that early but, well...it's nice to watch people poke around and discover. Maybe suffer. Also they didn't spawn on the roof. Once they broke through the fighting position they just crawled up on the roof like you did at 34:10

Yeah, when I found out that those special event zombie groups could open doors it was a surprise.. lol.. and not a good one. To get your stuff you are just going to have to run, grab your stuff and keep running. :)

Not anymore. Spent many years in and out of bands and finally decided it wasn't for me. It's a long story. I do still have my Strat and my Taylor 310ce though. Might pick it up again someday, who knows.

the getting ready for the horde. You were more ready than I was. I was like oh shit its day 7 already, I am not ready for a horde. What building should I stay in to see if I dont die a lot. That was my only goal. I lived the whole night on a roof didnt fight much, shot some zombies but that was about all. I was just happy to live through the night.

I was waiting for this first horde. I did my day 7 horde the other day and got my arse handed to me. My traditional early game horde bases just don't stand up to it. Glad to see it wasnt just me 🤣

I really would like to see zombie health bars at least for higher class Zeds. I really think the (Glitch?) with the trader jobs set you back too. You did good with what you had to work with... I wonder if a couple of pipe bombs or Molotov's would have worked of if it would all have crashed and BURNED? Would the fire have jumped to the retreat house as well? Probably, I suspect that most players found themselves in the same casket as it were, the first time the horde night came. This mod is definitely NOT for the faint of heart. I tried reading the dictionary in bed last night, Didn't finish it, Got up to P.

LOL on that last part 😆 The trader jobs issue was my fault. I inadvertently disabled it. Molotovs would have been effective for sure but I had none. I don't have burning blocks enabled in this playthrough. I do have them enabled on The Purge playthrough. Agreed on the unpleasant surprise on the first horde night for most players lol.

That was ALOT of zeds. What is your HN # setting at? I'm guessing you went with a Vanilla type setting of 32 or even 64? Rebirth != Vanilla (as you find out :) )

I discovered by falling into one that those pits with the spikes in are actually mining sites. The floor of the one I fell in was solid iron.

yeah deaths whisper. Yeah I keep getting that. About the only thing you can do is find a place or build one that is 2 high with a roof and big enough to not get hit while you cheese death. But with that in mind you have to kill all the ones that can get to you. I died a lot with one of them because I was out in the woods no where near anything, so spawning near my bag was the only option or lose everything I had so I chose to die a lot.

I know this is obvious but you will be able to handle them as you get stronger. Here's something I have learned recently... red tea is your best friend! (but you first need the elusive distiller and tabletop stove before you can make it lol)

It was because I ran away. If you leave the area, the boss remains but you no longer get the loot drop.

You need to unlock the Witch Doctor class first. Then make Mind Control Brews and black magic arrows in the Alchemy table. The arrows turn zeds when you shoot them or you drink the brew and use a power attack with a sickle. You wont get your first skeleton warrior until you reach Witch Doctor level 4. Then make it in the alchemy table along with throwable potions that turn several zombs with AOE.

I’ve been playing Rebirth for a few days now and the pacing at the start is way to slow. It makes the first horde artificially harder than it should be. To many aspects are gate kept behind new crafting methods.

It's a slow burn but when you achieve something important, it's also more rewarding. One of the more important things I had to learn to do is get out of vanilla mode. That all said, if you're looking for a quicker paced mod, this isn't it.

Spawning on the roof? Not cool. That basically means you can't build a secure horde base if they can spawn inside..which is BS.
