The yellowish skull is show the difficulty of the biome. 0 for pine forest, 1/2 for burnt, 1 for desert. 1 1/2 for snow and 2 for wasteland

priest gloves quality 6 gives you 60% damage to undead. nerd chestpiece quality 6 gives you 50% chance to read +1 magazine on every magazine you read. those two are the most OP choices right now. also careful on claim block area; You cant place it too close to trader compound. cheers

when you have the flame geysers, follow where the colored pipe goes. it will lead to the off switch, usually a dial or lever

Someone may have already mentioned it, but each tier of quest gives you that many points towards your tier level. Tier 1 gives 1 point, tier 5 gives 5 points. Takes 10 max quests to get each level.

You’re really close to the trader. You may want to see if you can place down a claim block before you place any more work stations. Otherwise you may not be able to pick up your stuff when you get ready to move to a new biome.

Couldnt disagree more with your comment 'the book system makes every game different'. Its the exact opposite, it makes every game play the same. The 'correct' way to play now is to hunt books so you look for every crack a book, every house that has bookshelves, all the mailboxes, and the rewards from traders is always going to be books if offered.You cannot play a 'cabin in the woods' type game (staying in the wilderness) as you will never find the books and so cannot progress

I guess I don't play like that lol try just playing and making decisions based on the books you find rather than hunting the books. It may be different and fun for you! 😉

I'd like to submit that you *can* play the cabin in the wood scenario, particularly with the most recent update. Loot bags drop more often from zombies, and seemingly are guaranteed to have maganizes. I guess it was recognized that progression was severely hampered by this system and bottle necked to the location of book sources. Now, you can totally just murder zombies, especially on horde nights where you could get leaps in progression. One could also counter with two mods: longer zombie loot, and maybe a "more books per loot bag" mod that let's you progress even faster without the sources of books. Would be a simple mod to make, if it doesn't exist already. That's the beauty of this game; you can most definitely configure and mod the game to fit nearly any play style, all based on exposed features and configurations by the mod system. Edit: Also, back in A16, I used to LOVE taking over the old ski lodge when it was still there in the northern snowy regions. I made a trench all the way around, barricaded with barbed wire and spikes, and a draw bridge to drive in and out. I would make a sizable mineshaft below where the safe is in the middle, and camp out in the really tall portion of the POI. Part of me want's to relive this in a series.
