When we practice humility we feel no sorrow at the good that others receive. Even those who are our enemies. Because we see our true identity in God's eyes we cannot be proud but rather consider ourselves least of all. Above all out of love for God, we submit our will to His. And we do not care about our glory but only that Our Lord's will be done and His glory be manifest in all things. This is hard to accomplish on our own but His grace works miracles in our hearts and we are able to be joyful at the good of others. Praise God.

Envy is one of the deadly sins that every Catholic Christian should be fully aware of. I vividly remember back in Junior high school. I had a girlfriend and one of my friends who found out that I had a girlfriend and he was envious of me because he didn't have one at all. So he tried many ways to tell lies about my girlfriend. And as for the relationship between my girlfriend and I, It didn't work out well as I've hoped because she lost a family member and she had to call off the relationship and once the relationship was over. My friend began to boast and laugh about my relationship with my girlfriend being over. And I told him that it wasn't funny at all. And then there was another time when one of my cousins was envious of me because I was invited to a private and exclusive lunch gathering in Hartford CT and how did I feel about being invited? I felt good and my cousin was being envious because he wasn't invited and then I was invited to my girlfriend's birthday party and he wasn't invited. So understood how my cousin felt being left out but I didn't brag or boast about I have better life than him. Because that's not the type of person I am. People who think that their lives are better than others is wrong. Even my older brother Jason continues being envious of me because I live independently on my own in a apartment and he doesn't have that. And I don't tell him that I have a better life than he does because I have my own flaws and I try my best to admit to them.

What about when we recognize more virtue in another and we seek to imitate them in certain ways? Is that still ‘envy’? Can what we call, ‘holy envy’ be a positive thing? 🙏🏾🤔✝️ I feel that Fr. R. may have answered my question with his very last sentence. God bless him and all of you! 🙏🏾✝️🕊️

Definitely needed this!! Horrible problems with Envy! One thing Father said, that I wish he could expound on a bit: “ God gives us what we deserve”? Because I often feel I deserve so much less than I’ve been blessed with, and where does Grace come into the equation?

Listen here! There is _nothing_ wrong with being average! The Lord sees every sparrow that falls. We should rejoice for those of us who are more blessed, and love them for their virtues, but those of us who lack them simply have a greater opportunity to rely on the Lord

@@IONov990 agree. It's not a virtue and if it's physical attractiveness you crave, it can be helped. Being an attractive person doesn't mean you have to be born exceptionally beautiful. There are so many other things you can work on and highlight that makes up for the "averageness". You can improve on your personal style. You can work on learning to highlight your best facial features with make-up and if you're not in shape, you can start working out to get in shape. Exercising helps improve mental health. Also, another thing that might help is to look at those women as inspiration for things you could try and incorporate into your life. Is it the way they walk or talk that attracts people? It's not bad to see and admire good qualities in others and then emulate them. I hope this helps.

@@Ps.tokoni there are of course women who are naturally extremely beautiful but I notice a lot of beautiful women dress well and are in a healthy weight range. I can be frustrated with my personality flaws. Why can't I be a perfect Christian? Sometimes I wish I didn't care for Christianity or need God altogether. I know I sound pathetic, weak, prideful, and ungrateful. You can cruise through life without God you have the right self discipline. Some people can present an image of perfection. People are not equal. Some people mature spiritually at a very early age while others do not. God will not love me any more or less regardless of what I do. Some sins are highly offensive to God like judging others. It is even worst when others catch you judging. It is tempting to go with the crowd and deny right and wrong. God is merciful to the ignorant. I know the truth so I am called to a higher standard of living which can be frustrating.

@@IONov990 No you don't sound pathetic, weak prideful or ungrateful. You sound just like a person who's self aware. Aware of her flaws and shortcomings. Someone whose imperfections bug her because she'd like to change and be better. And I think you just need a little encouragement in your journey towards the holy perfection God calls us to. It's good you've recognised your faults and listening to fr. Ripperger tells me, you want to repent, improve and be better. You're on track and as long as you remain submitted to Christ, I'm certain things will get better and you'll overcome. I'll be praying and rooting for you and hoping that even if we don't meet in this lifetime, we'll get to see each other in the next. The struggle is real sister but you're more than a conqueror because you've got Christ in you. And in your weakness, He will make you strong. Pax Christi ❤️

That is *not* what that parable means. It might be applicable here, but adding your own commentary the scripture like that is extremely problematic, especially when you are off base.
