Don't miss a single moment of this video. Here's a complete, unedited scene featuring the crossing of two trains at Monkey Hill Cabin. The first train is the 12493 Miraj to Hazrat Nizamuddin Darshan Express, powered by a WAP7 locomotive. On this particular day, I brought along my non-railfan friend, so please excuse our background conversations; he was quite curious about railway operations. Now, onto the moment when the second train enters the scene: it was a WAG9-powered BCN freight train, pushed by 6 WAG7 locomotives. That's an immense amount of horsepower for the rear of the freight train.
Sometimes, when the freight train is fully loaded and exceeds a specific weight, the Karjat crew assigns three extra bankers instead of the usual three to keep the train moving smoothly and prevent stalling. During the rainy season, loaded trains can stall due to reduced friction between the rails and wheels. This challenge is typically addressed through sanding operations, although heavy tonnage can still cause stalls. If you look closely in high resolution, you'll notice the WAG9 using sand to maintain traction.
