Great tips Jerry for those starting out in this great lifestyle. Things will break and you need to be prepared! One item I would highly recommend to anyone owning an RV; a good set of deep impact 6 point socket set and a 3 foot breaker bar. You need this when you have a tire blow out on your rig and you need to change it out. Yes, it can be done even by those of us who are in their 70's! Ask me how I know!

A square driver, a Canadian invention actually called a Robertson bit, named after the Canadian inventor Robertson from Milton, Ontario. They come in 3 sizes, #1 #2 and #3. Far more user friendly than the Phillips bits which are more common in the US.

I feel your pain on the battery replacement Jerry. I, too, had the same thing happen to me and my F-350 SD in Cheyenne, WY a few weeks ago...trying to get the batteries out, in the rain...and needing a 8mm box wrench to undo the battery clamps. My problem.....the camper, with all my tools, was at the campground....10 miles away. Fortunately I got someone to give me a jump, and I drove to Autozone and got the batteries....whew...glad that's over. But now I carry a small tool kit under the back seat. Keep up the good info, it's much appreciated. Be safe, have fun & happy camping. v/r, TS

Voltmeter show would be helpful. The square headed screws and subsequent drivers are called Robertson. Named after a Canadian inventor, P. L. Robertson. As you know, they are commonly used in RV construction.

Hi Jerry, the voltmeter should be the RVers first tool. This is a pretty good list of the minimum. I would add some duct tape which can help temporarily repair countless things. A video on the voltmeter is a great idea. I meet lots of RVers who don't own one but should.

If you have a generator, I suggest you get a Fluke 115 multimeter to test true RMS AC voltage, and frequency. It is pricey, but Flukes just keep working; I have a 30 yo meter that I use daily.

Please do a video on how to use a volt meter. I hate when I have two wires that are not red and black! Or black and white, brrrr. Some of meter settings are confusing or not so easy to understand. How to check disposable batteries, triple A, double A, C & D...my fan on kitchen hood range went out a long time ago. Switch, fan, fuse...she’s still mad at me! Some of us are just not to handy...thank you.

I jumped into the dot coms in the 90’s with a VC plus ran the operations and engineering for an independent telco. In 1998, went the consulting route till 2011. Was everywhere, doing large Internet, video, CO change outs, and 1,000 mile plus fiber networks. Kinda been there, done that resume. Now, running our boutique digital marketing firm, having fun and enjoying RV life.
