Beyond The Ice Palace would be a great name for an album about a divorce.

Now I want to see a major Hollywood adaptation of "Carver," the buff dude whose face occasionally morphs into a computer programmer and whose punches never reach the enemy.

While the Amiga couldn't hope to match the mega drive or SNES takes on ghouls and ghosts I'm sure it could look better than that

Recognised Night Walk from the thumbnail, got it bundled with my Screen Gems pack from Evesham Micros. It's not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but it does have a strange meditative, hypnotic quality to it if you have the patience.

Never mind the quality, I'm surprised they didn't have Marvel's lawyers on the phone given the player sprite is clearly Hawkeye.

I still think we could have had a decent version of Ghouls & Ghosts for the Mig. That soundtrack, so out of place and yet so enjoyable, reminded me so much of Jethro Tull in it's sound. As for Halloween platform games I think do work, The Addams Family springs to mind but the nearest to the G&G series would be Risky Woods, which points the way Ghouls & Ghosts could have been done, in a similar way to how Lotus showed how Outrun could have been done for the Mig. Great video as always.

Yay! Spooky and hilarious. My favoUrite combo. That "Das Modell" tune is so bafflingly wonderful.

Wow. back to The Wild West Days, when the Miggy was super-popular, and EVERYONE was publishing games for it, regardless if they had any talent or sense of right and wrong. Well done for lasting through this Kim. As a long-time Amiga fan, I remember well how much absolute dreck there was for it when it was popular.

Based on your experiences with the Amiga Wheel, I just like to picture most of these games as small adventures where a hopeless hero tries to fight evil but is easily overcome and everything is doomed. Pleasant dreams! (But seriously, it is apparently very hard to make a good platformer!)

I kind of wonder if "Attack of the flickering skeletons" would ever end up being covered but then i remembered its an 8bit computer game

I remember seeing the Beyond the Ice Palace sequel in a conference, but I didn't get that it was a sequel to a game that old ! The new one looks pretty cool tho, thanks for the reminder. Also, I love your channel. I love retrogaming, and getting more obscure coverage ofEuropean gaming and microcomputers is very cool.

21:47 - Polish Amiga games next? Oh boy..i remember for long time, Polish magazines used term "It's good, for a Polish game" with usually resulted in 40% - 50% max :)

I was there for some of the wheel of misery but I missed out on these treasures. You know, I don't think it's a coincidence that a couple of years after I got my Amiga I stopped being into games for about 3-4 years.

I beat beyond the ice palace when i was a kid. That c64 port of that turtles nes game too. Without cheating. I realise now that I used to be *bloody good* at computer games. I'm still all right but yeah. The limitations of digital joysticks and loading times, multi-loads blah blah blah. These games were brutal. Great days.

Well we can now say @Kim_Justice quite literally “wrote the book” on 80’s arcade games. No really, she actually wrote a crowdfunded book on 80’s arcade games that’s being worked right now. Bit hard to argue with that. 😄

It's like to see one of these videos for Ikari Warriors. There's like 10 or 15 clones of it on the Amiga alone

Nothing like a spew of Amiga garbage on a Saturday. Would always enjoy seeing clone games like this revisited. Maybe a feature length video on all the horrid Sonic clones of the 90s

Aww Kim... legend once again. I have a vodka and orange right now in the home I've inherited on a Saturday afternoon on the couch of the only property I will ever own- too sit and enjoy your presentation.... Amazing! This is life.... Think ill fire up a few on emulation Much love

Some other Ghosts 'n Goblins-style Amiga games are: Risky Woods - actually pretty good! Ghost Battle - nice graphics but a little boring. Fire and Brimstone - lovely Ghost n' Goblins-style graphics - but it's only flick-screen, i.e. doesn't scroll.

For an actual good GNG clone, try Cursed Castilla on PC and recent consoles. Battle Princess Madelyn tries very hard too, looks beautiful but it plays poorly. Still way better than the slop Kim tried here.
